POP2 - PUTV 3D Models Showcase Progress & Tips

Thank you @Bango , yes it would be nice if you can do to see any difference after firmware update.
What is happening in my case is , the half model looks ok and the other side is scrambled , so only half of the texture is good .

I will test today on my new tablet to see if this is the device or not . It affected all my devices , only program from early March works fine for me . And that is a mystery

I am testing so many softwares and devices , something happened and I don’t know what . One device ok , but not all of them and now also MINI so I am speechless :no_mouth:. If this was the device it would not work at all , but all works fine on March release build and early … not after

Okay, I’ll do another test with updated firmware but it probably may take till tomorrow until I can post the results.

Do I maybe have to re-calibrate the scanner after updating the firmware?

Ok no problem David , thanks for your help .

Make test before and after calibration to see if you got any changes …other way don’t . I am starting suspecting the calibration software , since it is responsible for calibrating the RGB camera , but then again it works on older software … mystery … the development team is working on it so we see soon what is going on .

@Bango please try with Feature mode next time as that is biggest issue I have right now … how closer my object to the device how scrambled it looks like

Ok guys , for some reason the software do not project the color frames correctly when generating textures using last build of Revo Scan .

the RGB is correct so that is definitely not the device issue but the software that align the textures wrong and it got confirmed by the R&D team and they working on the fix .

Here Feature mode
the fist frame is aligned perfect and textures looking just fine using POP2
that is the first frame I started scanning the model .

then you rotate it and textures looking wrong on any other sides , the projection is wrong

I don’t have that issue in March release of the software , so can’t be the device . How far you go away how better results but less sharper textures so I have to wait for the fix .

I did not cared much about the textures before , as I use only the RGB, but since the MINI RGB textures going to be very usable for my work , I started to pay more attention on that feature the reason I even talk about, and something changed recently. To see the issue you need o Scan full rotation of the model , frong and back and check if front and back have the same quality …
Also the texture generation takes so long in the last build than before using POP2 and longer than MINI RGB.

Now I am going to make test in the March Build …

Handy Scan and POP2
3 milion faces smaller model
faster fusing, meshing, texturing 3 times faster , and clean point cloud fusing .
Sadly MINI RGB can’t be fused below 0.1mm and don’t works so good in that build .

The first version released after Handy Studio is Revo Scan that works exactly the same way just different name , it was from march 1. believe .
Textures works great !

Okay, I’ll make 2 more scans in feature mode, one before updating the firmware and then one after the firmware update but first I’ve to wait until the power bank is fully charged. I guess I can post the first scan result in about an hour or two. I am curious to see the result!

Thank you David , I think the firmware will not make much changes as I used POP2 with old firmware and one with new and the same , it is the software algorithms that need to be fixed … and will be fixed ASAP , there is also slightly FOV issue also that need to be addressed .

if that was the device or firmware I would have the same issue in Handy Scan but I don’t .

So it’s possible to downgrade the firmware of the scanner?

Not possible , I have multiple devices

So here’s the first scan with textures using the old firmware and following scan settings:

Scan result #1 Front:

Scan result #1 Back:

Somehow, the scanner wasn’t able to track the back of the object correctly. I’ll try to fix this in the next scan. However, I can’t notice any issues in the texture but it took about 9 minutes to create it. Definitely longer then with the previous version of Revo Scan.

Okay, so Revo Scan just crashes as soon as it tries to install the firmware upgrade. I tried it 2 times now. Is there another way to download and install the firmware?

No there is no other way to install it .
Can you scan something simple so you can have back and front like the included bust with Pop2 ?

Here’s my biggest scan to date, a 3D print measuring 600x300mm.
Not quite finished, still got some of the other side to scan.

Sorry for my late response. I was up too late last night and just went to bed around 4 AM.

Okay, then Revopoint has definitely do some bug fixing for Revo Scan. I’ll send a bug report regarding the firmware upgrade issue as soon as I can.

Sure, I’ll also post the result as soon as I can but this probably will be in 3 to 4 hours as I’ve to do some other things first.

Thanks David , I decided just to relax yesterday and don’t be bothered with it too much .
We have on top heat wave at this moment so temp are for this week above 100F / 38C …taking it easy

True, the same here in Germany

I saw in the news, crazy ! , I am running 16K BTU AC and can’t get the temp down below 26C .
My Mini laser shut down yesterday again reaching 45C … after 20min . I got my new heat sink ready to install …as it working so well with my POP2 .
