What do you mean by “I hope it will get approved soon”?
Anyway, so excited about the things you mentioned in the post, can’t wait to see your results.:star_struck::face_with_monocle::drooling_face:

Approved new version of the software build that I am testing out with MINI “Revo Scan” it produces smoother results with much less artifacts than before , still the same details ,also much faster fusing and meshing . I am testing various objects to see how it handle memories and other things on small and big objects at slightly higher resolution too than before , so far the maximum I reach is around 0.01mm pitch point that has a very smooth result . Before 0.02mm was a minimal and very slightly noisy , but now it produce better and very smooth results as the development team improves the software algorithms.

Upcoming Thursday/Friday I will test out the RGB functions , I want to make some outdoors tests in color since LED lighting is not friendly with Blue Lights Technology and too much LED lighting can confuse the software tracking ( just with MINI) same as outdoor lighting with POP2 , however outdoor lighting works fine with MINI so you can scan things just fine next to your window as long it is not direct sun . Blue or cloudy sky ambient light do not interfere with scanning as it did with POP2.
I will post some more stuff later today .

Thanks Selina, I am even more excited for Thursday/Friday to test out the rest of what MINI has to offer .
So far everything moving only in better direction .

There is a new Windows version of Revo Scan , that allows MINI beta users to upgrade the firmware, I did successfully upgraded the MINI firmware today .
If you hover with your mouse point above the firmware version you will see a blue update button , if you run the last firmware there will be not button showing up .

https://www.revopoint3d.com/wp-content/uploads/download/Revo_Scan_for_win_v4.0.3.20220705c.zip

There is also a small bug in the software that do not proper measure the distance between the object and MINI , so minimal Excellent indicator is actually too far at around 12 cm if you want to get the best fine details you need to keep it at 10 cm and measure the distance manually to be able to capture volume at 0.76mm and ignore for now the Excellent indicator until it get solved.
I just found it late last night so the team will working on that soon.

I tried also to upgrade POP2 firmware, but it get stuck in the process and downloading window do not opens, so maybe not ready yet.

I just tried with the original POP and nothing pops up when I hold the mouse over the firmware version so I guess poor old original POP is off the good girl/boy list.

I do not believe that the original POP has its firmware being upgraded.

A while ago I sent my information in to get the firmware update but I don’t think it ever did it. No biggie as compared to the 2 and mini this thing is outdated already :frowning:

There was manual upgrade for POP1 , but it caused so many issues and damaged devices by users that did not followed the upgrade process correctly, that why the new software has the upgrade function.

I am sure @KnightRid Michael they will add POP1 to the list soon since there was a new improved firmware .

I am still not able to upgrade the firmware using POP2 … it stops in the middle , unable to click OK to process .

Why outdated ? it can be still used for so many projects , but I know already what you need , so I understand . You can still convert yourself to Metahuman  and be immortal forever in some of the Matrix of the Metaverse !
I know the game makers looking now for devices like crazy … you should sell yours and get what you need for your daily projects . If you have just one choice, go for POP2 … it will cover everything you need.

MINI is not a replacement for POP2, not even closer , more of a companion but not replacement for all your needs.

METAHUMAN MIKE!!! lol

I have to hunker down and try to get better at scanning and then maybe I can at least get close to what I want to do!!! Practice makes perfect

Practice makes everything better … true words

 that was a good one

Hi Guys and Gals !

I had a very informative meeting yesterday with the CEO of Revopoint. We talk about POP/MINI devices , possibilities , software and all the great stuff regarding the future , and most important what we the users need and expect .

I got the last production model of the MINI slightly too late as planned , Fedex held it longer as it should .
Today is the last day of MINI on KS , you have the last 32-33 hours before the campaign ends .

So here is the latest model of MINI standard Package ( Gimbal and Dual Axis Turntable is still in production )

The standard Package came with the Potable Turntable * NOTE: there is no supply of potable water included with the package .* :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
Jokes aside , nobody realized there was a missing “R” on that sample package , I realized it myself after I took the picture …

Anyway , the Portable Turntable has this time a speed regulator , which is a great addition , and will be also very usable especially with POP2 that love the slower motions . I found that MINI does not perform well when the object is moving / rotating too fast or too slow , so somewhere in the middle around 460 frames per rotation provides the best scans .
The power cable is USB A to USB C , however there is no rechargeable battery inside , I did open it , there is space to mouth the battery inside , but for some reason not mounted, it may be because it is pre production sample , other way not much here about being Portable unless you connect to a power bank .
The Turntable is much smaller than the one that came with POP2 and MINI Beta Sample before , however the top part has the same diameter as the old one and the same goes for the scanning plate that has all markers printed on it , The Turntable has also switch to turn forward or backwards .

The final MINI device has slightly bigger Depth Cam sensors than POP2 , the sensors are also much deeper inside than before to avoid light interruption while scanning , that goes for all the sensors on this device .
And of course it includes an RGB camera with blue coated film , the RGB camera is shifted on the same angle as the left Depth Camera to provide the same angle preview in the Revo Scan software .

MINI has a super transparent glass protecting cover over the sensors with super anti reflective coating used on reading and optical glasses , as you can see the difference between POP2 and MINI is huge regarding the reflection . There is no protective cover going over the Class 1 Blue Light Laser projector to maximize the sharpness of the pattern . You shall keep it always clean from dust particles as it can interfere with the results of your scanned surfaces . Use only special cleaning tools that are created for cleaning Camera sensors , never spray any cleaning solution directly on the projector lens , use fiber cloth specially used for cleaning reading glasses and camera lenses to avoid scratches as that can interfere very badly with your scans . Don’t use pressurized air to clean the lens of the projector or the unit .

MINI don’t use LED Blue Light inside it’s projector , it uses Class1 Blue Light Laser that according to safety sheet is not harmful to your eyes if exposed briefly , this mean you can’t make anybody blind while scanning , but do not stare inside the projector at a very short distance less than 10 cm for extended period of time . Also due sensitivity to flickering light people with epilepsy need to avoid contact with it as it can trigger the attack .

The Projector as I mentioned before and confirmed last night by the CEO , uses Blue Laser and micro mirrors to create pattern , what make it a DLP kind of structured light projector but not exactly , the resolution of the pattern is focus less so actually the resolution don’t matters as no pattern image is projected, what matters are the intensity and the angle of Depth Camera sensors that can’t be changed manually or via the software , objects at 10 cm will have finer pattern projected on the surface and more intensive light source to measure higher volume resolution/accuracy and to capture finer details of the surface, and at the distance of 20 cm the pattern will change capturing slightly less details of the surface but still very accurate volume .
So far after testing the minimal volume that could be captured is 0.76mm with supporting volume on the side of 10mm x10mmx10mm , the stand alone volume I could capture is minimal of 7mmx7mmx7mm standalone without additional support in feature mode . Please don’t mix this information with the accuracy and volume , the pitch point resolution is officially at 0.05mm, but the software can capture surface pick and valley with a pitch point resolution of 0.01mm as I tested it myself without noises or issues.

Here is the comparison between the size of POP2 vs MINI

and here is the contents of the box as it usually comes with all needed cables , calibration board, bust , phone holder, tripod etc…
I would like address that the MINI packages do not include any USB cables that allow you to connect to a micro USB , all cables are with UBS C / USB A , I know people mistakes on KS the Micro-B USB cable as standard micro USB , but that is not the case , all Micro-B USB cables has or USB-A or USB-C connectors . Only MINI has a Micro-B USB main port for power and data connection .

So here you go ! I am about to test out the RGB camera now and see how it performs , I will post my findings later today about that subject as I want to take my time and find all the possibilities it offers, make video to show you the results , you know me not from today, I love to be transparent about reporting stuff to you , and all opinions as always are my own and not influenced by anybody else.

Revopoint always appreciates my and yours honest opinions, as they mentioned it to me not once, as it helps them in building better brands and better 3D scanning products that they focus on.
So please don’t think I am talking here for my money , you will always hear constructive opinions from me first!
Because as you, I want the best product to use with my work to make things easier in the process.

To be continued, I hope you find some of the information above interesting as I do.
Thanks for your support !

Thank you Johnathan ! RGB or no RGB … that is still the question ! well tonight we know everything about !

Holy cow , I just made simple tests… insane difference between the final MINI model vs Beta prototype , heaven on earth with small volumes … better than ever before .

We need a new livestream next week for sure ! I will let you know !

I am so excited to share with you everything tonight !

That’s great news, can’t wait to see more!

I got deep testing everything , time passed so quickly …
I will upload the rest in my morning

here some WESTWORLD style
The textures resolution is great

the details are super fine

The only little problem is the intensive sunflower yellow color and neon green as it absorb the blue light , pastel colors no affected , warmer colors like brown, red , orange need little higher gain settings.
The RGB camera has a filter that eliminate the Blue Laser light tone neutralizes it so actually not visible under the RGB camera at all .

I love the WESTWORLD reference haha, that looks really good! the skin colour looks good, I guess you will have to play with lighting to eliminate shadows but it very good

hopefully they can fix the yellow

can you try this spray Kenair Anti-Reflect Full Matt 400ml Reduces Glare and Reflection Easy to Apply and Remove - KENR07: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics & Photo
it may help with colours, I tried it with the pop2 and helped on shiny things a little like a can I did a test on

Thanks Johnathan , sadly the spray you mentioned is not available
maybe I can find it somewhere else online .

The POP2 can looks very good and clean .
