Is RevoPoint on the Right Path?

Dear RevoPoint Team and Community Members,

As a customer and enthusiastic fan of RevoPoint, I would like to bring an important matter to your attention today.

It has come to my notice that RevoPoint continues to release new 3D scanners into the market while the older models are not functioning optimally. This issue extends to the accessories as well.

Let me illustrate this with a specific example: Recently, I attempted to use the RevoPoint Gimbal to quickly scan an object, but unfortunately, the Bluetooth Start button still does not work to this day. I even created a video to demonstrate this problem.

Furthermore, it’s evident that the software on my screen often behaves erratically and has not been functioning correctly for some time now. This significantly impairs the usability of the 3D scanner.

The question that arises for me is whether it makes sense to keep introducing new products to the market when existing issues remain unresolved. While it’s understandable that RevoPoint aims to generate profits, what is the long-term objective?

Do you wish to be a top-tier company offering high-quality products and functional software, or is the primary goal short-term financial gain? In my opinion, instead of constantly launching new products, resources should be directed towards improving the current software and firmware for products like the turntable and Gimbal to ensure their reliability.

I believe that a focused effort on the quality and reliability of existing products will be more successful in the long run and enhance customer satisfaction.

I look forward to an open discussion and hope that RevoPoint takes these concerns seriously.

Best regards

Maximize on some screens is a know bug introduced in the latest version that brought powerfull new features like frame editing and manual white balance.

Revopoint was also made aware that they need to make releases that have not been mass tested as release candidate downloads and keep always a good known version available for users to rollback.

That said @Revopoint-Cassie and @Revopoint3D-Gena have transmited these issues to the Dev team and they are working to fix it.

So expect a rollback or a fix version up soon

The problem has been around for a long time and a lot has been promised since I got the mini. Yes, the software has gotten a lot better. That was also a real step in the right direction. But instead of taking this further, resources are being wasted on new products. For example, in your answer you don’t address the fact that the start button on the stabilizer doesn’t work. And that is just an example of the core problem

I cannot comment on the stabilizer button because i never used it.

Seems a new update just popped up on their website, no official info on what fixes it brings yet

Hello @Revopoint-Jane

I appreciate your thorough response once again. I would like to reiterate how crucial it is for Revopoint to seriously focus on addressing the existing issues and products. As I mentioned in my initial post in this discussion, there is an urgent need for improvement in the existing 3D scanner models and their accessories.

The question that still remains is: What is Revopoint’s primary focus? Does the company aspire to be a respected entity in the long term, offering high-quality products and reliable software, or is the primary goal short-term financial gain? While profitability is certainly important, long-term customer retention and satisfaction are equally critical.

Prioritizing the enhancement of existing products should take precedence before introducing new ones. Customers like myself who have invested in Revopoint want to ensure that the products we already own function optimally and meet our needs. This will strengthen customer loyalty and bolster Revopoint’s reputation as a company that values quality and customer satisfaction.

I urge you to seriously consider this question and take into account the concerns of your customers.

Additionally, as previously mentioned, I would like to suggest the implementation of a ticketing system similar to GitHub. While the forum is useful for information exchange, it can sometimes become unwieldy, especially when multiple issues are being discussed simultaneously. With a ticketing system, users could report specific problems, track their progress, and set priorities. This could help ensure that the most critical issues are not overlooked.

I agree with @SphaeroX about the ticketing/issues system.

A transparent and public issues and feedback system would allow not only to avoid duplication of threads but also to inform the userbase what issues are being resolved by the team.

And since Revopoint already has a github account maybe using the github system would be a solution?

If however you want to keep all in discourse (convineence over functionality) only native plugin i found for discourse is the following Tickets Plugin 🎟 - plugin - Discourse Meta

I would suggest creating different repositories on GitHub for, for example, the Hand Stabilizer, RevoPointMini, RevoPointRange, and so on.

You can also hide the code or use a README.md as the code, or even create a manual directly from it (multilingual) in Markdown format. This way, users can contribute to the translation.

A fix for the stabiliser start stop button not working was promised 9 bloody months ago.
Good old Revo.
Just don’t bother.

Hello @penneyduck ,
Are you using the latest version of our IOS software?Revo ScanV5.2.2.

As the handheld stabilizer feature is newly added, the old software version is not adapted.

If you are using an older version of the software, you can click here: Best 3D Scanning Software - Revo Scan 5 to download the new version and try again.

If you are still having this problem with the new software, it may be a hardware issue and we will work out a solution for you.

I apologise.
I only use the stabiliser with mobile IOS.
This has never woked so I have rarely tried.
Start stop now does work of sorts.
Quite flakey and still turns the device volume up and down.
Maybe time to treat someone in the dev team to a Iphone.

I have a suggestion for improvement regarding the Revo Scan software and its support documentation. It would be beneficial if users could easily copy the software version number and the operating system details with a single click. This feature would greatly enhance the support experience by streamlining the troubleshooting process.

Additionally, I’d like to reiterate our earlier suggestion of considering the use of GitHub for your software and documentation. GitHub provides an efficient platform for version control, issue tracking, and collaborative development. It could be a valuable asset when combined with the ease of copying version details for addressing more complex problems.

You can often observe that forum posts serve as a form of software support. This way, there would be less stress in the forum, and you could focus on addressing the actual inquiries.

Your consideration of these suggestions would greatly contribute to the overall usability and supportability of your products.

That is issue that can’t be resolved without involving Apple into the deal , meaning additional licensing costs what would make it not really worth purchasing at all .

It now works well enough to be useful.
Just don’t have Cher playing in the background.
