Did my POP2 just die?

I received my replacement unit in an unbelievably quick amount of time! The service from Revopoint has been outstanding. Thank you Cassie and everyone else involved.

Just saw this thing that might be a good tool for cooling down the scanner.

I think little to big for POP , after I installed my heat sinks with thermal path , it works wonderful and no fans needed for cooling it down 10C , as the aluminium sinks absorb all the heat from the case .

There are also smaller and cheaper $16 cooling devices with fans that could be used with combination of a 3D printed cases , but if your ambient temperature is too high, nothing of it will works .

That is interesting @Frontfluegelgefahr , my older POP2 just give up while trying to install the upgrade and went to blue salience yesterday, I am going to try it out and see if I can get is back to green again .
The play button never was mentioned to have any other function than start scanning since it is purely activated and controlled by the firmware, and technical support never mentioned anything else about so very interesting , I hope it works !

Thanks :+1:

I had a similar problem, but a dissimilar solution.

With the latest version of Revo Scan (with the firmware update capability), I updated my POP 2. I updated the POP 2’s firmware with it connected by USB. WiFi was the stated/required method for earlier updates, for no good reason I could ascertain, so I admit that this was an experiment with a (mild?) amount of risk.

Two days later, I fired up Revo Scan, connected my Mini and went to update its firmware; Revo Scan displayed that the POP 2 was connected (serial number and everything). This remained the case after cycling connection status, rebooting my computer and even connecting hardware & starting the software in alternating order, with connection by USB or WiFi. I recall that I pressed the Start/Pause button on the rear of the Mini, but with no effect.

Revo Scan also presented the POP 2’s user interface (Body mode being an option was the most telling).

As a gamble, I selected Body mode in the hope that it would kickstart something (pun not intended). The Mini displayed the blue status light and stayed there.

As an experiment, I exited Revo Scan and connected the Mini to a battery pack and let it sit for a while.

While I didn’t time it (I’m thinking 15-30 minutes, but I was working on something else), the Mini’s status light eventually went green. After this, I was able to update its firmware and use it as normal.

Jeff , the MINI with no RGB after update is loaded with the same firmware as POP2 , same happened to me I changed the name to MINI and things works just fine to some degree however now the distance is wrong so fix is on the way , but my old POP2 that I purchased still on blue light .

One: How did you change the name to MINI?
Two: Doesn’t explain why the Mini was reported as a POP 2 by Revo Scan.

I mean changed the WIFI name was POP2 , sorry …

It was reported as POP2 because of the firmware, it loaded the wrong one .

I tried the play button trick and it did not worked , it got green, red, blue and that is , I did locked my old POP2 device doing the upgrade , that is now clear .
Devices from March 2022 should be not upgraded, so if you have first batch from March holds your horses . The older firmware is locked with a safety and it may lock your device if you try .
Same for beta Mini devices with older firmware that can run in Issues .

I asked the developers team, they said you can’t unlock the firmware with the play button .
You was just lucky , I have to return my now.
