Will Mac be supported sometime soon?

When I bought my new Inspire 2, the information available lead me to believe Revo was supported on Mac computers.

In fact, there is no support for Mac computers manufactured in the last 2 years (Mac M series), the software for IOS apparently hasn’t seen an update in 4 years. Although there is a PC version, it likely will not run reliably in Parallels (be your own beta site).

I’m sad and disappointed that what looks like a product with great potential is simply a high tech paperweight. By the time software becomes available, this will likely be a sadly outdated product.

No solid information regarding Mac/Apple support. Maybe no one wants that…

I am no an expert in Mac OS.

But there is Revo Metro for mas os. It supports metroX, metroX pro, metro Y, metro Y pro and Inspire 2.

Is this not what you are looking for?

Hi @Xile6

Did not know it was already released 2 weeks ago. As you I use only Win.

Yes that it is ! Revo Metro
Thank you Jermaul
Also there is Revo Scan 5 for iPhone that can be used with Inspire 2 as well.

I hope it was not a question regarding the actual Apple silicone support as it will not happen very soon. For more info regarding that contact customer@revopoint3d.com

So here’s the thing. Apple introduced apple silicon (the M processors) in 2020 and there does not appear to be any support even planned for the only Mac now manufactured. The apple IOS version of software apparently hasn’t been updated for perhaps 4 years. The Android software is only partially functional on Wifi. All of the software appears to be IA86 (Intel) specific, so it likely has low level dependencies (like many legacy software programs).

This unfortunately was not very clear when I decided to get my scanner and also unfortunately, I bought the thing a while back and only just realized it’s severely handicapped unless I buy and configure another windows box specifically for this one thing.

I couldn’t recommend these products to anyone with an Apple ecosystem…

(just for further information, there are somewhere around 20 million Apple Silicon Mac’s sold annually)

What do you mean is only partially functional ? I have inspired 2 and it works via WiFi and vis USB C while powered to power bank. So what partially functional means in your book?

I am not MAC specialist and neither I use it , but Revo Metro software that was released last year support all MAC chips , it is just not native software but many MAC users in our community here use it without any issues .

I would suggest you send your feedback direct to customer@revopoint3d.com if you want your voice to be heard .

Hi. I appreciate your reply. I understand you come from a windows background and may not understand that Macintosh architecture began to move away from Intel processors in 2020. This is referred to as Apple Silicon and is the only architecture manufactured now. There are 10s of millions of Mac systems with Apple silicon now. Although it’s a footnote, Revo software only supports x86 64 (Intel architecture) which excludes millions of Apple users.

As I mentioned, if you have an IOS device, like an iPad or iPhone, the application hasn’t been updated apparently in 4 years (making it essentially unusable for the IOS devices made in the last few years).

If you read the forums, you will note that there are a plethora of issues with the latest android devices (which includes me unfortunately). Yes it does basically work on WiFi on android. This is not the same as the desktop apps however.

I have worked in tech supporting windows, linux and Mac for many years. Sadly, I didn’t read the fine print where Revo clearly points out that the only solid software that is provided is specifically for the Windows IA86 environment.

That’s all. I hope this makes it more understandable.

It’s a great looking product line. Unfortunately, the software isn’t quite as great. I think Revo actually mentioned they would not be supporting Apple in the near future (unless your Mac is over 5 years old anyway).

I am glad you are satisfied with your product!

By the way, I expect Revo already knows about everything I have posted here. This is more of a informational post for Mac users weighing their options for scanner hardware.

I respectfully disagree with the claim that the application has not been maintained. In fact, I personally posted the update announcement in the forum last October, and the app has received numerous updates over the past four years, and I have exactly all the dates of the updates on a list.

Furthermore, I can confirm that the app is performing well on the iPhone 16 when used with the Inspire 2. I am unsure where the conflicting information originated, but I wanted to ensure the record is accurate regarding our current compatibility and update history.

Regarding the compatibility of the Inspire 2 with Android systems. It appears that the forum message previously referenced by you are outdated, as the device is currently working perfectly.

I personally used the Inspire 2 as recently as last week without any issues. It functions correctly via both Wi-Fi and USB-C when connected to a power bank. On iPhone or iPad the Inspire works only via the WiFi as all other scanners and do not support USB connection.

Please let me know if you need any further clarification on this matter.

To address your recent feedback regarding our software and the Inspire 2 scanner. While the development team is aware of the current limitations regarding Mac compatibility and plans to address this in a future update, I would like to clarify some points regarding the mobile software. Based on numerous showcases from our user community, the software is performing reliably on both Android and iOS for most users.

If you own an Inspire 2 from the initial launch batch, it may require a firmware update to ensure full compatibility with Android devices via USB. Please connect your scanner to a computer and run the latest firmware update; this should resolve the connectivity issues you are experiencing on mobile.

Regarding native Mac support, I agree that this update is overdue. It is a frequent topic of discussion within the community, though the final release timeline remains with our development team.

To ensure your concerns are prioritized, I highly recommend submitting your feedback directly to the core development team so your voice can be heard.

Just to clarify, how is the update applied in the Apple Mac Environment?

Just read what I just typed to you in my early reply.
There is not much to add to it.
