Received my INSPIRE 2!

I just received my INSPIRE 2 in what must be record time. I had the DHL dispatch notice on Sunday, and here I am on Tuesday by 2pm with my scanner. It was nicely packaged, and I’m impressed with the build quality of the scanner.

However, after downloading RevoScanMetroX and installed it on my Mac (macOS 26) it never shows up as being connected. I also can’t connect from the RevoScan app on my phone in the usual way. I’ve contacted Customer Services to see if they can help.

I’ve emailed Customer Support, but I’m guessing I’ve received my scanner before the software has been released. The demo video on the INSPIRE 2 product page shows the software as being “Revo Metro 5.8.0”. There’s also no documentation on the support pages yet.

I’ll wait to see what they say.

The new public version of Revo Metro suppose to be released today according to my information . That’s the one Inspire2 is using.

Please check the official download page .

BTW it is already available for Windows

Revo Metro

Inspire 2, MetroY, MetroY Pro

It’s interesting that MetroX support is also stated there.

Yeah it will handle all the scanners with laser modes.

Hi @tomg

The MAC version of Revo Metro will be available in the early days of November.

Thanks. I’ll have to put mine away until then :slightly_frowning_face:

Is there any news on the iOS app?

[Edit] I see that there will be no direct iOS scanning like using my RANGE with iOS RevoScan, but rather using iOS RevoMirror with RevoMetro.

Will Revo Metro be available for Mac Apple Silicon processors? The download page says x86_64 architecture only.

I guess in the future , but can’t tell you exact ETA.

I managed to run Revo Metro in VMWare Fusion on my i9 Intel iMac. It wasn’t a great experience, often crashing, but I managed to scan a few things at 15fps, and I was frankly impressed given the layers of virtualisation. This suggests that the native Mac version will run nicely. Here’s a Full Field feature scan of a (95mm wide) cast of a medieval green man from a church (and here’s a link to the file on Sketchfab). There’s great detail in the scan, and I didn’t use any particular lighting, just on my desk.

Looking forward to the Mac version, and I hope, as seen in the official INSPIRE 2 unboxing, a version of Revo Scan for iOS that supports mobile full field scanning.

Very nice Tom !

I think tomorrow evening EST you will be able to use Inspire 2 with Android or IPhone as the new Revo Scan 5 mobile app will be released supporting it.

Talk about a rushed patched version ! It’ll only connect via Wifi and NOT USB and it keeps losing connection and when it does make a scan you can’t see what your scanning as the picture is totally black..!! To be honest I wouldn’t released this as it’s worse than most beta test software!!

Hi @Moriarti

First of all you need to setup your phone to keep the network connection intact because INSPIRE 2 WiFi network don’t have actually Internet so the mobile device will disconnect it and switch back to actual Internet WiFi .

You can’t direct connect scanner via USB , it need to be powered and you need mobile split cable where one cable powering the scanner via power bank and the other handle the data via the phone .

About the rest I am not so sure if I understand well what you mean by .
Can you share some screenshot showing what you mean ?

received my inpire2 as well. Cannot get lasetline mode to show up at all, nor can i get the leds to stop blinking when using color mode. I am still waiting on Revopoint to ship the missing filters, perhaps that might be a requirement for the laserline mode to even show in the software??

The filters aren’t required for laser line mode. They’re just for outdoor scanning.

I can’t use my scanner yet as I’m waiting for the Mac software, but I did get a chance to test it via a virtual machine, and was able to use laser line mode. You need to change to the marker scan mode (one of the top left buttons from memory). You’ll also need to have lots of markers on or around the object.

Laser line mode isn’t available in Revo Scan on iOS, just regular feature mode.

I forgot to reply that i was using the RevoMetro 5.8.0 Windows 11

You need to use markers to be able to scan using laser mode, without markers it will not fire up .

Under RGB camera there is a thunder :high_voltage: icon , if you click it the LED will stop blinking and you need to use your own light to capture colors . The blinking is important for color scanning .

The filters are needed to be used when scanning outdoors in the shades , absolutely not needed for indoor scanning .
