I noticed on the website that there is support for the apple M2 chip, but have seen conflicting things in diferent places about support for the revo metro app and running the metroY on the apple processors. I have also seen that there is soon to be a release of revo metro for macs. Can you confirm that the revo metroY can run off of the apple M2 Max chip? The macbook I’m using has 96 gb ram.
The minimum requirement is
macOS
CPU: M1 Pro/Max/Ultra
RAM ≥ 16GB
The recommended is
macOS
CPU: M2 Pro/Max/Ultra,M3 Pro/Max/Ultra
RAM ≥ 24GB
macOS 11.0 or better
The software is still in development but that are an official system specification the software will support and run on.
And I think I’ve seen you say that it should be released any day now?
I will have more info about the ETA tonight after 9pm for you.
Sounds promising PUTV. Waiting here with baited breath.
There’s a bunch of automotive scans I need to get done soon, but I don’t really want to have to go and buy a PC laptop just to do that, especially when I have a M2Max with 96GB!
Same here! I’ve got the exact same Mac and didn’t realize it wasn’t released yet when I bought the scanner
Hi, did you hear anything regarding the ETA of the Mac version?
Hi @daishixsi
Still waiting for the info ![]()
Thanks,
hopefully it´s coming soon…
Sorry guys but I have a bad news, the Mac software will not be ready early than December due to some issues that need to be fixed.
If that is concerning you please contact customer@revopoint3d.com and share your thoughts with them .
Thank you for updating us.
This is deeply disappointing and doesn’t reflect well on Revopoint. I hope that the CEO is aware of the disconnect between the software team and the marketing team.
I’ll email them (again) as suggested.
I am so sorry Tom, I really hoped to bring some good news today , and yes please email them and share your thoughts, that would be the best way to put it on the record.
I did my part as well.
Thanks for the update, Pop. That is awful news. I will also email them to reiterate the disappointment.
This is a bit ridiculous, the scanner is useless to anyone who uses a mac. When support is stated on the website for macOS, it should at the very least have an asterisk stating an expected release date.
Totally agree with you on this point.
Make sure you email your feedback to the CS .
Yeah. I’ve given my feedback about this to CS and ordered a Windows laptop. My MetroY Pro will stop being a paperweight tomorrow and I can get on with scanning.
The odd thing is CS folk keep telling me that the MetroY Pro should work with the mobile app, but while I can connect to its wifi, the app doesn’t recognise it. That bit doesn’t surprise me as it isn’t listed in the compatibility list, so why CS think it is supported puzzles me.
Maybe they believed you talking about the Revo Mirror where you use MetroY Pro with but also need to be connected to computer as well.
Laser mode can’t be used with Revo Scan 5 mobile
That’s what I thought initially, but I’ve had these responses:
“The MacOS version is still in final testing to ensure full compatibility, stability, and performance. Unfortunately, there is no confirmed release date yet, and a public beta is not currently available.
In the meantime, you can use the mobile app for basic scanning functions while we finalize the Mac software. We truly appreciate your patience and understanding.”
and then the following exchange:
CS: “Thank you for your message. We cannot add individual emails to a notification list, but the Mac version release will be announced publicly once ready.
The software is still being finalized by our R&D team to ensure full compatibility, stability, and performance. In the meantime, you could use the mobile app or a Windows computer to access the software.”
ME: ‘When you say “In the meantime, you could use the mobile app or a Windows computer to access the software”, which mobile app can I use to drive the MetroY Pro scanner?’
CS: “You can use Revo Scan 5 for your mobile device — the current versions are iOS V5.4.2 and Android V5.4.2.”
Hence why I think someone has their wires crossed on compatibility.
On a happier note, my Core Ultra 9 laptop is out for delivery in the next couple of hours. Phew!
Again, thanks for your help PUTV
Hi @Rattie
Thank you so much , I think someone must confused it with Inspire 2 that can use mobile Revo Scan 5 .
There are no mobile functionality with MetroY-series other than via computer and Revo Mirror.
I will check out with CS on this issue .
Thank you again !
Congrats on your new laptop , it should be not like that but one of my reason why I am using Windows for scanning , MAC software releases always delayed everywhere and when they started using CUDA cards for scanning it was no way to keep it up for best performance.
