revo studio / batch export.
Allow option to export as OBJ or STL, currently only exports mesh as PLY

when merging with RevoStudio, it would be nice if there was an option to use paint brush to select areas to keep, and delete unselected points.
so

  • brush selection in revo studio
  • inverse delete / delete non selected

I reported that long time ago , it is impossible to export textured model from the batch processing process as it support only ply , no UV no MTL

For that you have a lasso , you need to prepare your model before merging and clean all unused points that you don’t want to keep , that is how things works .
Don’t merge messy point clouds before cleaning . How cleaner the files are how more accurate will be the merge , this include overlapped and lose points .

thanks I understand this, this is why I am asking for a paint brush selection, rather then lasso

It would be much better to have a brush , however it would only works well on low poly models , on very high poly models it would not work smooth , even the lasso take some time to select the millions of points , I don’t think the program is advanced enough to be able to handle that types of tool .
I actually clean my scans in Zbrush in general then convert them back to points in Revo Studio or CC if I need to merge anything .

I totally blanked about zbrush, how?? I’m using it everyday lol.
Thats a brilliant idea and totally didn’t cross my mind!

It is much faster if you want to cut stuff out , so when I scan I do mesh it in Revo Scan without closing the holes and export as obj , the Revo Scan OBJ is as rich in data as ply , so it really don’t matters if you use ply or obj , Zbrush can read the formats well , even with RGB data included .

after importing the fragments I clean what I have to clean and import to Revo Studio or CC and convert to cloud point … the results are much smoother and merging more accurate . Less junk data to deal with, saving time .

The best part of it is that you can load all your scan parts at once , align them , remove unnecessary parts and see what you got before merging already , Revo Studio don’t allow you that so you have to guess what part to remove .

when meshing in revo scan for merging, do you still use denoise of “3”? or do you leave more noise / detail if a project requires merging?

No denoiser , it can alter the surface sometimes , so skip it for better merging .

Actually, this should already be possible.
On your device, if you go to Android/data/com.revopoint3d.revoscan/files/Revoscan/data, you’ll see the project folders and within them, the csprj project files.
However when I try to import the project files into Revoscan on my pc it just crashes and closes ??

Hi Scott, the cache folder is empty it is not a full project and it’s missing the whole core .
If you do not fuse the point cloud on Android you can’t do that later , not even on mobile phone . And that’s the whole problem .

I want to be able to do full batch processing on my computer after without the need of fusing the scan on mobile devices .

That’s odd, my cache folder has files although like I say, I still can’t load the project files.

Actually, that folder related to a scan that was fused.
Another project that I didn’t fuse has no files in the cache folder.
So the scan data must not be saved unless you fuse ??
That’s nuts !!

That’s correct, that what people asked Revopoint to do . And that’s nuts !!
The data before fusing is loaded under virtual memory , once you skip fusing it is gone forever .

I know this contest is over, but just upgraded software on Mac and have a few things I would still like to see.

  1. I would like to see detailed descriptions of what each feature is and how the Advanced Functions work and alter the model.
  2. When I choose a location to save scans KEEP IT! Stop forcing me to select my folder EVERY time I create a scan (I use Mac if that matters).

I’m new to 3D in general, so features without context really don’t help. It’s not fun to sit for hours trying different options, comparing to what it was before (especially when you don’t see any visual changes).

While the scanner works well, it would be really nice to know what the features actually do so I can really up my skills. Would save me a ton of time, effort and guessing.

Hi,
Thanks for your suggestion. I will forward this to our R&D team.

Good morning, for me it would be optimal have the preview of the ply file, when we have multiple scan is good to see the preview… is possible to insert that option??? Let me know Many thanks

Hi @GMGB you can see preview under Project /models list
Where else you want the preview ?

into revostudio when we select to import point or mesh…
it would be great… when we must join two ply will be the best…have preview…

also into revo scan how I can see project/model list… there is an example… thanks…
because I use a srf tablet to made the scan and to made the work I use a pc onto a table to be more confortable… so I copy the scan to work into another pc… and I don’t know wich directory must copy to have also project/model show…
