Unable to switch to fullfield scan MetroX

Hi, I updated to Revo Scan 5.6.4 MetroX and did the fw-update for the MetroX. Now can’t switch anymore to fullfield scan. Doesn’t matter which mode. I tried with markers, without markers, with global markers… Anyone got the same issue? If there is a image shown it is the last frame of the mode before switching to fullfield.

Thanks for any upcoming tips!

Hi

Is that the case even after disconnecting the powercable from metrox and reconnecting it (with or without restarting revo scan ) ?

Hi Ivan,
I tried it, it won’t solve the problem. I can select it but the laser won’t start projecting.

Hmm.
from other user:
“When you unplug the scanner unplug usb-a, power supply and usb-c. then replug the cables in the opposite sequence. i had a similar problem ( on my workstation the scanner after one uplugged was no more recognized, but with my laptop worked fine) i tried so many time to unplug and replug the usb cable without succes, so i made a call with support, and they solved the problem in this way”

Also, reboot the PC, if you didn’t.

If this doesn’t work and @PUTV also can’t help before, please contact the support customer@revopoint3d.com , but notice the temporarily reduced support times:

Actually I updated the Firmware yesterday and can’t switch to Full Field using the menu bar it crashing and restarting MetroX each time I trying .

Something is not right ..
I did not tried but try to use the switch to Feature mode above in the menu bar top right in place of switching using menu .

You use the latest public Revo Scan MetroX right ?

Hey, I am back from vacation and could test a little bit more. I am sorry. I did not test properly with my notebook. After restarting the Metro X… I can do fullfield scans with my notebook but I still can’t switch to fullfield when using my desktop pc. It is connect via usb 3.1 and Revo Scan shows me that the connection type is USB3.0.

I am running the latest public Revo Scan MetroX.

It will show only USB3.0 , I am connected through Thunderbolt 4 , still showing USB 3.0 that really don’t matter much.

Full Field can run even on windows 11 tablet with i7 8gen CPU and 16GB of RAM.

I recommend you contact customer@revopoint3d.com
For future technical support

Because it looks like the hardware is ok since it working on your laptop , this means there may be some conflict on your PC, the technical team have tools to find the issue out .

Thx for your input, I will contact the support.

Hey, I did meet with Revopoint Support and they could figure out that the depthcamera driver (DepthCam) was faulty. If you have the same issues like I did then save your and the supports time and try:

  • open device manager
  • uninstall DepthCam
  • click on action → scan for hardware changes

…and it should install the driver again.

Depth camera don’t have a specific driver, it is the system camera driver. Plug and Play.

Thanks for sharing the results , would be an extra solution just in case.

I am reaching out regarding a technical issue with my MetroX scanner.

I am currently using the software Revo Metro (V5.8.5) and firmware v2.1.81.20250303. Despite having the scanner properly powered via the V-cable and the original wall power adapter, I am experiencing the following problems:

  1. Full Field Mode Malfunction: In Full Field mode, the projector only emits a very dim, faint flickering light. Previously, it used to shine brightly and consistently. Please note that this issue also persisted when I was using the older MetroX standalone application.

  2. Mode Switching Delay: Switching between scan modes (e.g., from Cross Lines to Full Field) now takes a very long time, often several seconds, during which the application seems unresponsive.

  3. Contrast with Laser Modes: Both Cross Lines and Parallel Lines (laser modes) appear to be working normally with full brightness, which suggests the laser diodes are fine, but the structured light projector is not.

Steps already taken:

  • Updated to the latest firmware (v2.1.81.20250303).

  • Tried disabling GPU Acceleration in the software settings.

  • Verified the power supply (external wall adapter is connected).

  • Tested different USB 3.0/3.1 ports on the PC motherboard.

  • Performed a clean installation of the software.

I hope that it isnt a HW problem?

Thanks.

Richard

Hi. I have the same. What was the solution?

Hi @Joca

The issues will be fix in mid March.

Please uninstall the 5.8.5 and delete it completely, install Revo Metro 5.8.4 to check if the problem disappears.
RevoMetro-5.8.4.208-windows-x86_64.exe:

If still issues with your MetroX use Revo Scan 5 MetroX or please wait for the next Revo Metro update in March.

i’now at the software version you said. The problem persists. in full field mode, the scaner doenst see anything. Even with lots of combinations with exposure and so on. I need a response. Or at least, how can i properly clean the system from the previous installation of the 5.8.5 version software.

Hi @Joca

I am afraid there is different issue than the software since my MetroX works just fine as long I don’t Scan too many frames like over 20K , but Full Field works just fine
