I try switch mode to full scan with Revo Metro with Metro Y Pro and Revo Metro crash. Does Revo Metro have exception logs that I could send you.
Plus my output I am getting a lot of extra objects nothing like the vides and not sure why

Hi Stewart,
I am scanning fir many hours in the latest days and I never had any crash switching between modes so I can’t confirm it , but please contact customer@revopoint3d.com
And they will give you instructions how to collect the logs for them so they can let you know why it crashing imon your system .
Sadly that’s all I can help you here with
Not sure I understand what you mean with it , can you be more specific ? Maybe some screenshots of the viewport ?
The crash issue I believe is related to bios update on my Asus. Once I applied the update, the issue with crash was resolved and also issue with used USB cable directly connected to Asus issue was resolved.
As for the other issue, fusion seem to removed all the orange dots. I think it because I don’t have it in green all the time.
I have a call with support tonight to help me resolved some of these issues which is likely because I am new to scanning
That is good to hear ! Thanks for letting me know !
If you have any specific questions regarding scanning let me know , for technical issues with scanner recommend to contact customer@revopoint3d.com and talk to technician .
Happy scanning !
I also figure my major issue with scan and it was related to depth. Support had no clue but I believe it will fix the issue, I will test it out later this morning.
What would be nice is some one come out a tutorial demostrating setting for each mode for best results. That would be good for newbies like myself
The settings depends on each object separately , based on size, material and color so not one setting for all .
But I understand what you need to get started .
If you have an issue scanning an object just start new thread and post some screenshots with the current settings you are using , the screenshot function is also in the software .
That would be best way to tell you out because each object needs own unique evaluation for the best settings .
Depth settings : never use higher than 1 if you scanning very light color objects like white or light gray , some materials are made from absorbing materials like resin or plastic so they need level 2 under Depth exposure , how darker the material become hos higher depth settings it need.
When scanning using blue light colors like yellow , red, green, orange or any other colors that absorbs blue light need higher depth settings including absorbing materials like waxes, resin, oil based materials like black plastic .
It is great to play with the depth settings before click the start and observe the viewport and how the object appears in the viewport
Same goes for the Laser brightness , light material colors need less level of brightness , white and light gray from 1-7 and how darker the material his higher the level .
Reflective materials and shiny metals need own settings in the menu to increase additional brightness of the laser , SJ dark object, metal shiny etc ..
Once you get the basic it will be very simple , most important is the evaluation and how you going to approach the scanning process .
I am working on the basic video tutorials already explaining the all functions . It will be lots of information but don’t get overwhelmed, step by step with practice will make it perfect .
Yeah a tutorial would be good but not just best setting but how the system actualy works from an overview point of view. Why i say this is becaus if people understand somthing how it works why it will act a certain way you solve the problems very quickly you can plan you work etc. but that is a lot of work for somone. But with experiance you will develop a intuition on what will work and what wont.
Just scan a lot of things just what ever. i started wolking around finding realy hard things to scan becaus they were hard, It was frustraighting i used to evan get hedachs but i got better quick
That would be great - the problem was I was leaving it defaults and thought it was my hands shaking or such. But I seen videos and just didn’t seen right especially even on tripod.
What you mention is great, I also put Markers from the pack and others I made down and seem to work - small turn table seem to small.
I found the videos from guy with name of StreetKar very used full and going to try some of settings now.
This new 2025 asus g16 zephyrus laptop is having serious problem with Revo Metro software, first it went to a scan which I thought was a little better on USB and then next scan fail grab data and then I switch to wireless and only got 5.4 fps sec.
Is there logs I can view of send to someone there is something seriously wrong on this notebook
I am testing on my Alienware R16 with 4080 super. It not perfect and wireless was not useable.
The results were not go - this object is small black inch by 2 1/2 charger for a Spoton dog coller. will try another object - maybe there is problem with complete black objects made of plastic
Parallel line mode with another object GT Model T car working nice, will try cross line mode
the included image, is the primary object I trying to scan, both in cross line and parellel line mode
but I can not get all of it
Not sure what is going on, but I am tired of dealing with today. I do hope to send the logs from my laptop which is a newer machine.
Please contact customer@revopoint3d.com they will give you instructions how to option logs from the software , they may help you with technical issues as well and you even may make appointment with the technician .
I do report bugs and stuff but I can’t evaluate your system issues with the software in the forum as that is not my area of expertise .
You choice the most difficult object , I would recommend to try with a something regular with a light color surface , get some experience use cross line before switching to difficult object and using laser mode that require much more work around . Cross line is the fastest in the laser mode .
You don’t need to use the turntable , just put it on the table with markers around , I use black lazy Susan for laser mode
For me it would be just a moment to scan that object , don’t worry about your hand shakes when using laser mode , you need to move the scanner back and forth to capture all the surface , laser are much slower than full Field and in this case it scans less than 20% per sec compared to Full Field so it need you to move back and forth until you at least capture 8-10K of frames to get the final scan
Ok I will look for the logs, I have had 34 years experience looking at logs and designing logs for providing information. My guess it something with windows but I will look at and provide them with information.
This object, one that I desired to make a mod for - twice getting collar for dog, I took it charge off and it was on the dog
I have two lazy Susan, the one that came with the Pro and also a 23 in larger model
I have a cool small diecast model - Diecast Master Cat Skid Steer loader that could be used - added benifit it comes with a soft cloth envolope that is perfect size for the Metro Y and likely Metro X
I try to look for logs, and other thing I know is that Revo Metro is write in QT
I will work on using the Cat Diecast model or the statue tommorow on laptop and get some screen shots since you mention the object I trying to do is more difficult
Try to catch on the workflow scanning something simple , after you develop your own workflow then you can go on the more difficult objects with less frustrations . We all were there on some point of time .
What do you recommend, I did a Discast Georgia Tech Model T car earlier, but only did the fusion part which is about 7 takes and some sides are missing. May I should do the Statue or coin, or similar small object or Rubics cube.

Hi @hstewarth
Start with the included bust for a starter and try to scan it with all modes to get familiar of the capture process , remember laser mode needs at least 8000 frames , Full Field 360 and Auto mode 36
Remember not ale simple objects can be scanned with Full Field or Auto mode without markers , but with markers the features don’t really matters .
Sounds logical, I will test on both Alienware R16 which should work and then Asus ROG Zephyrus G16 which has what I believe some device related issues - like it because it new 2025 hardware i9-285 and 5070 ti
I was doing over 8000 frame with multiple views
I wondering if there is a video on using Full Field 360 and Auto mode 36i
I am going to work with Alienware which I knows works and then do on Asus and doc issues for support.
It is a way , just put an object on a turntable , elevate it from the flat surface slightly by putting something below it , start the turntable to rotate , set the scanner to feature mode General Feature mode without markets if object have enough features , capture 360 frames what is one full rotation of one angle , you can scan multiple angles at once or separate scans and merge them.
Auto mode uses automatic the turntable and capture single shot frames , you need to put your scanner on the tripod , connect your turntable it will automatic scan the angle , it is lots of stuff to write down for that reason I am cutting down here , for the rest you need to wait a little bit longer for my video tutor
You can also check the tutorial section for MetroX as the workflow is exactly the same as MetroY or MetroY Pro , the difference is only hardware , everything else works the same way. It may help you a lot until then
