Serious Problems and Feedback about the RevoMetro Program

I’ve been using the Revo Metro Y Pro scanner for a few months now and would like to share my impressions and ask a direct question to support. My spec: i9 13900hx 64RAM rtx4060.
The start wasn’t bad, the scanner was technically capable of producing the results I needed, but the software…
I waited for a software update.
The first update to version 5.8.5 was encouraging, work was done on the usability of the scanner modes, the scanning process became smoother. The scanner became more convenient to use, but I still avoided using it. Processing scans took a tragically long time. I have another scanner, but it is not portable.
I emailed support and posted messages on this forum—I wasn’t the only one. And then, it seemed like our voices were heard. A vote was held, and users unanimously voted for the laser scan processing speed.
And so I’m eagerly awaiting the next update, and it’s happening,
but received nothing:
-Processing speed fusion hasn’t increased. –Texture support isn’t available (it was promised in all 5 modes when I bought the scanner). I still have the promotional materials that stated this.
-Pre-processing before fusion is missing.
Furthermore, scanning performance in version 5.8.6 is worse than before (constant freezing and stuttering).

+The only improvement is that the program no longer crashes when entering large amounts of data.

Now will the work on increasing the speed of laser scanning processing be carried out? Or is all the effort focused on POP4?

Finally, here is my feedback on improving the software, besides those already named.

From a simple one: teach the program to remember previously selected object appearance settings - black, base, shiny, camera orientation. Add a setting in the settings to determine whether I should automatically hide the depth camera preview.
Now the tricky part: implement automatic cleaning when double detection points. I don’t want to spend several minutes moving the slider back and forth dozens of times. This drags out the already endlessly long post-processing process. Maybe it makes sense to play with the interval instead of the specific value, in case someone needs specific numbers.
And now I understand the most difficult thing is that you need to do high-quality filtering when constructing the mesh. At the moment, I use third-party programs to import point clouds.
Thank you for reading. I ask users to support me, and representatives to comment. I’m sure I’ve voiced the wishes of many people.

Hi @Yan

Indeed the laser mode processing if the fusion is taking too long , there is also reason why it takes so long because if the very small frames and lots of them that need to be calculated vs Full Field.

Meshing will take also long but in other programs it is not done any faster , but they have better filtering / cleaning options that can do it in seconds with one click instead of sliding the slider and waiting for too long .

To have the processing of mesh much faster , you need a perfect point cloud , clean and prepared as living any points inside it will take additional time for processing .

Sadly the software is CPU based and with the amount of data when scanning using Laser mode things will not get as fast as we wish .

I run on i9 14th Gen and fusing using laser mode is just too long and I did reported it and the team is aware of it .

Right now the team is busy finishing the software for POP 4 , also some fixes with Revo Mirror for users with MAC , so the agenda is full until early July already.
They working on all improvements and the wishlist is very long .

Thanks you for your feedback @Yan
Just please have a little patience as everything you said was already reported and not once, including my own personal reports, nothing is ignored and Revopoint is always thankful for each feedback !

Thank you for your time addressing it

I’m satisfied with the mesh creation speed, but I don’t like the noise filtering at the boundaries of cloud points. Indeed, many of these issues have been raised previously, and I thought it necessary to gather them all in one thread to get a direct answer. In light of the introduction of blue laser scanning in RevoScan, I don’t understand the need for RevoMetro, which is updated less frequently and offers no better functionality, other than calibration for the Ultra version.

There was not blue laser scanning in RevoScan, it was introduced first time in RevoScan MetroX, it runs on a different algorithms and needs or requirements.

I believe in the future they will meet all together in one software when things are ready.

The dev. Team do not provide any direct answers on questions on the social medias, the protocol is different , if you have any direct questions you need to get through contact customer@revopoint3d.com

That’s right, for the first time, and I’m saying now that with the arrival of Pop4, blue lasers also work in the revoScan program.

Sorry but No, it is only Beta software for POP 4 , no other scans runs on it , so not sure yet if it will be added to Revo scan or Revo Metro at the release , as that informations are still not made public.
