Revo metro 5.8.6

Feedback regarding Revo Metro 5.8.6

You need to do better. The latest version of Revo Metro 5.8.6 is honestly terrible. The software freezes and crashes far too often. Furthermore, when scanning via Wi-Fi, the program simply freezes, causing the scan to terminate. This is unacceptable.

Hardware Specs:

  • Scanner: Metro Y Pro

  • Workstation: Asus ProArt (Intel i9, NVIDIA RTX 4070, 64GB RAM)

UI and Usability Issues:

  • One-Click Edit: In my opinion, “One-Click edit” is not good. However, the software constantly reverts to this mode. I have to manually switch it back to “Fusion” every time. Please ensure the software respects and saves user-defined settings.

  • Scanning Settings: If I am using “Global Marker” scanning with “Metal” surface settings and “6mm markers,” why do I have to re-adjust these settings for every single scan? They should remain as selected.

  • Resource Management: Processing takes a very long time and does not utilize the NVIDIA GPU. It doesn’t even put a proper load on the CPU. While scanning itself uses the GPU, processes like Fusion or Mesh do not.

Hi @LHo Revo Metro is CPU based software , GPU acceleration is only used for collect frames .
I have the same CPU as you and the load is always 65-75%
Processing 3D models at that level takes time no matter what software you are using and there is not many of professional software that will choice GPU over CPU in this case as it still would be as fast as your CPU, because your system is not GPU based either . CPU is always the main loaded and unloader .
There are zero chance that this software become GPU based .

65% is too optimistic, in reality it’s 16-20

It is true even to 75% sometimes , I just scanned for 2 days in a row monitoring everything with Task Manager while process around 50 million points scans .

Actually INTEL CPUs do get used as high. It’s only AMD CPUs with such lower workload, but Revo guys are working on it (I am on “team red” myself).

It does , just remembered yesterday to make screenshot while processing in RS6

Also the high CPU workload will also use very high amount of RAM to process it .
