Seems like new software is slower than the metrox version, but better scan

I’m testing out the new Metro software, as opposed to the MetroX software.

Scanning seems to be slower even though it’s 20% faster framerate. The scan looks better tho so I guess that’s a tradeoff. Can’t wait for MetroY Pro to show up and run the same scan against it.

MetroX software (old)

Metro software (new)

As you can see, with the same settings the Metro software looks cleaner than the MetroX software. Also the cleanup of trash is much less for fusion to do. MetroX software always had a lot of trash in the image. Fusion would clean it up, but I’m sure extra work.

Also, on this project with the MetroX software I had to do 3 scans (top, bottom and side) to get merge to work, with the Metro software top and bottom and it aligned perfectly on the first try. Big improvement.

If we could fix the calibration bug I’d call it a big improvement.

Does anyone know how to get all my projects to show up on Metro? I moved the files to the right directory and pointed Metro to it, but they do not appear in the home screen. I did manually open a project and it then shows up, but can’t do that w/ 50 projects (I know, should have done more, LOL.)

It collect more frames but also cleaning them up more efficiently so the scanning my only feeling as longer but it is not , more precise results as you already mentioned sm after all final result is better .

Now only imagine double the speed with MetroY Pro.

I am suspecting the scanner measurement are missing for the first calibration , I guess you did not scanned the QR code ?

MetroY Pro comes with the codes so it automatic compared the process for faster calibration results . Just remember that good and not too bright lighting is needed while calibration .

Sadly the projects will not show up under the history , as the paths are different and putting them under the new software path will not help , they need to be open again one by one .

In the future there will be a library , for now just a history only .

Yup, step 1 is scan the QR code.

Has me wondering about the firmware, it has not updated since I got the replacement MetroX from Revopoint last summer. I wonder if it’s got some sort of beta fw that isn’t allowing updating.

I’m doing an auto turntable scan right now so I can’t see what the fw is

fw: v2.1.81.20250303

In AppData/Local/RevoScan5MetroX/config/revoscan.cfg you will find the list of projects:

 "projectList": [
            "C:\\Users\\userxxx\\AppData\\Roaming\\RevoScan5MetroX\\Projects\\Project_Example\\Project_Example.revo",
            "G:\\MetroX_Projects\\Project08272025022826\\Project08272025022826.revo",
        ],

This entry is the same in the RevoMetro folder, you should be able to copy them over.

You can’t get a Beta because they was different from public release and it don’t matter regarding firmware update . I don’t had firmware update either and I use public version of MetroX

The question is not about copy of the projects , the question is about showing up in the History ?

Dropping them to the Revo Metro folder will not make them appear in History on Home page.

Only projects opened in the software showing up in history regardless of it’s locations.

Copy the relevant portion of the .cfg file from old version to new version is what I meant.

I never tried it … thanks for the tip !

So basically the history list is stored there under the .cfg files … nice
