1 hair wide vs half hair wide …hmmm
The errors specs are to help you adjust the proper measurements , it is nothing about what is better or not . The errors will vary based on the lighting, material, humidity, warmth and user error while scanning .

Measuring a car that is 4 meters long has a best-possible error of 0.22 mm for the Miraco Plus and 0.43 mm for the MetroX, end-to-end.
Which is great for both scanners, right?
Some would argue on that statement…
But when it get about a car , then completely fine.
Scanning smaller areas increase the accuracy . This numbers are for 1 scanned cubic meter at once.
i thought volumetric and working distance isnt an issue for me, i thought these two only affect the duration of scanning time, also i thought i can use mini to scan a car, if patience enough
until i tried to scan a car with mini and range, that does matter for both volumetric and working distance
To be honest, the naïve never-had-a-3d-scanner-in-his-hands me still somehow thinks this - while starting to realize that he will get to know better. Then again, I don’t want to scan cars nor elephants. I want to scan things I can carry around. For that I think I opt for the right Revopoint scanner.
Hi Cath!
In demonstration videos I noticed both marker sizes (3mm and 6mm ID) were used
simultaneously. Is there a reason for that? Any advantages in doing so?
Thanks!
no specific reason I do that too , that really does not matters , but when you have extra space throwing some 3 mm between it always good idea to increase the numbers , there is never not enough markers unless it is so crowded that there is no more a pattern .
For example on my old plate I have 6 mm markers but I out some small markers in the center so when placing a very small objects there is more markers around it .
What do all the beta testers actually do? where is the feedback? I hope that there will be a few more videos or scans by the payment deadline in November.
The feedback you want is from beta users ( early adopters), not beta testers
Beta testers report stuff to the dev.team directly not to the public, and works under NDA.
MetroX is a project and work in progress and not finished store product so we all use beta stuff not final stuff and since so much stuff is changing on a daily basic , what was ok today may be perfect tomorrow.
You don’t want reviews about a prototypes .
But don’t worry we almost there …showcases coming very soon as well .
Is it possible to say when the Showcases will be released?
When Beta users are ready with them , they still working on it on a daily basis me including .
I may have my showcase ready tomorrow night probably… still have some object to scans .
Lots of scanning modes it like 4 scanners in one …extra job !
I have a Miraco, which I like quite a lot. The descriptions of the MetroX are glowing (of course) but I have no sense of the work flow. The Miraco is self contained, with a large color touch screen, so scanning feedback is immediate. I do not see a screen for the MetroX. Do you need to attach it to a computer (desktop, laptop) to use it? Is it connected by a cable or by WiFi or BT? So many obvious questions not answered.
Hi @jon_bondy
MetroX need a powerful computer to be able to use it for scanning , it is connected by cables and separate power supply and you need to follow the workflow on your computer monitor .
There are amazing videos you can find on Revipoint YouTube channel or just go to Kickstarter page and play them there to see how it works .
MetroX is mostly for reverse engineering and prototyping for those that have a great skills in 3D modeling and design .
Check my showcase , you can find the link on top
Thanks. I will pass on the MetroX. The MIraco does everything I need, all in one package.
I found using the previous scanners to be difficult because I had to both move the scanner and watch the screen. With the Miraco, since everything is in one package (scanner and screen) I find it easier to use.
It is used to easy docking it while on a tripod or on Desk Arm
It is not recommended to connect the tripod directly with the scanner using the screw .
Use always the Cradle first
Is there still a thread on the unit itself for a tripod?
The Cradle in the newest Revopoint video does not look very secure if you put it on an angle or want to mount it on an arm
