Just got Pop 4 from Kickstarter. Revo Scan 6.2.2 on Windows 11 laptop gives me the error message that “No 3D scanner detected”. I have it connected via USB and Pop 4 does have a solid green light. This laptop does not have a USB C port so I have an USB A to C adapter.
I have the same issue. My POP-4 either is not recognized at all using USB-A 3.0, or it says that the scanner is connected using USB 2.0 and data rate is low. But as soon as I flipped USB-C male plug inside the adapter 180 degrees, to my surprise POP-4 was recognized! Now I can only use it in one certain position inside the adapter (I tried different adapters); it works in one but not in another. Try to flip it too.
None of the USB-A to USB-C cables worked for me, I tried USB-C to USB-A cable from POP-3 and it didn’t work either. POP-4 definitely has some USB issues.
Another weird issue is that it doesn’t work with a USB-C hub. Scanner is recognized, but when I click “Preview” button, it throws a popup message “Failed to get camera’s information, please restart the scanner manually”. After restarting the scanner same error pops up again.
The adapters are not ideal , they need to provide proper data speed and powering the device , POP 4 is not your typical webcam or mouse , it needs proper powering and data flow that why the most adapters are not working proper .
Flipping the adapter may help but not quarantined as it already tells you it’s not good enough if your port is cheap made, I never had any luck with it , I just got self powered USB C hub and good thunderbolt cable with 8GB data flow and fast charging ability .
Just because the port is USB A 3.0 don’t means it can provide fast charging and data flow at the same time , as it will depends on the motherboard and the system .
My adapter is a Ugreen. I am able to flip the cable to work. FYI, the laptop is an MSI Thin A15 and the USB ports are 3.2. When I searched Amazon to find more information on the Ugreen adapter, it says it supports 10 GB, but gives a warning that if not getting the right speed out of it to flip.
