Pop 3 - Poor scan quality

Hello guys,

since december 2023 I am owner of a Revopoint Pop 3. Sadly I am very disappointed. Every day I hope for an update of the scanner to improve the quality. Now with RevoScan 5.5.0 I am still absolutely disappointed. I tried so many different settings but never achieve anything satisfying. Not even with the provided bust. I was thinking it is me and i need to learn and try more, but is this what the depth-camera output should look like? I think it is so much noise, how would you achieve the promoted acuracy with this level of background noise?

I don’t want to sell the device at all because I love the forum and your quick response to costumer feedback regarding your software but right now I am thinking about buying a different brand and give them a shot.

Please tell me, this is not ok and I have a hardware issue.

Hi! This might be due to poor calibration. Did you check the calibration? You might have to recalibrate you device.

is the surface of the object shiny ?

Hey Ivan, thanks for your reply.

I already calibrated with the calibration-board several times over the past year. Never changed anything. :frowning:

Is there a way, to check if the firmware is up to date? I get this info:

Best regards
Daniel

Hey kkula9999,

it is the bust which comes with the scanner. I think this should scan perfectly. It is matte.

Daniel

Hello guys,

I got a replacement POP3 but my issues remain. Many thanks to revopoint support for quick and easy exchange of the device!

Last week I tried to scan an engine ECU but still get “ridges” while scanning. They appear and disappear troughout the scan. Is this normal behaviour? Here is an example:

I think those “artifacts” mess up the whole pointcloud.
It is basically what I get with the bust from revopoint to. So still no decent scan possible. I still need to recalibrate with Revoscan 5.5.2.

I will keep you updated.

Best regards
Daniel

mine mini 1 also expierence this scan quality too, problem solved after recalibate in my case

That’s not normal results you got there, please recalibrate and if you still experience anything like that please contact customer@revopoint3d.com
For text final hardware evaluation including all your screenshots and project .

Also while scanning corners and edges always make sure you capture all angles in 3 dimension , if you skip an angle it will be filled with phantom points .

But that was not the case here, it need recalibration then make sure you scan at except/ good distance only
