New Pop2 problems

Here is what im talking about. I can scan either side per scan with separate files but not both sides at the same time with one file. If I try to align both outside and inside it fails with both options. So I thought I would use just one side and make the other side flat. I cant seem to fill the other side to make it water tight as they say.

Studio_Otherside

Did you tried the option to fill the holes and use “flat” option under Advanced settings ?

This should be not difficult task .

Also you could use Cloud Compare and align them manually and use point cloud registration to align them and fuse together . Revo Studio have limitation and some processing is just impossible to do , same when merging coins , or you have to scan them all at once or use another more advanced software .

There is so many ways it can be done , some scans just need more advanced approach as the nature of the object is too simple , and a simple scans are a pain in the neck .

Even with the irregular shape, the scanner can still lose tracking when you rotate from one large side to the other across a narrow end.

Instead of trying to capture all 4 sides in one scan, capture three sides in two scans for alignment in Revo Studio. With luck, it will even align in automatic mode.

For complex objects, like this paddle from my ice cream maker, I first oriented it vertically and scanned downwards at 45° while rotating it somewhat more than 180° (just enough to catch a significant portion of each end). Then, I made a second scan including the two ends and the large other side. My third scan was to place the paddle horizontally and do another 360° scan, followed by a fourth scan where it was flipped over.

I only fused in Revo Scan and opened each file in Revo Studio to omit overlapping points (I also deleted sections of the point cloud where the gum was holding the paddle in place).

Alignment was automatic and this is the meshed object.

The problem @DsmDude has is the inner shell , like trying to scan the outside of the box and the inside in 2 separate Scans . Scanning of this type of objects are much more difficult to align and merge .

BTW nice scan @JeffLindstrom
