I’m having a problem with my Miraco not connecting in PC mode on any of my 5 PC’s, both Win11 and WIN 10 platforms. I’m using the white USBC cable that came with the Miraco. On all of the PC’s, the miraco will connect in USB mode for data transfer with no problem. On 4 of the PC’s, it shows that the scanner is connected, but when I switch to scanning mode, I quickly get an error message stating that the camera data cannot be retrieved. On 1 other PC (Win11) it shows that it is connecting, but it never does, it just keeps showing ‘Connecting’. When I check the cameras in control panel devices, it shows both the depth camera and RGB camera live data from the Miraco. I’m using the latest RevoScan v 5.5.4 and the Miraco has the latest firmware installed. I could live without the Miraco not working in PC Mode, but, that is the only way I can calibrate the Moraco and it does act like it needs calibration as I’m not getting the best of scans anymore. Strangely, though, I have a POP 2 and it does work on the PC’s. If anyone can offer some help I would be very grateful. BTW, I have been working with tech support and they offered many suggestions, but none of them have solved the problem.
Has anyone had this problem and found a work around?
The issue with a PC mode not being able to connect has to do with the USB ports of the motherboard . MIRACO is using lots of power when connecting in PC mode for scanning or calibration via the cable, it require USB 3.1 with good stable power on that port.
The transfer mode uses different protocols for that reason is usually working just fine
What I did was purchasing myself a powered USB 3.1 hub with a good Thunderbolt USB cable.
You can try to update the USB ports by removing the driver and reinstall it again , in most cases it works.
Also check the Camera privacy settings under Windows system making sure it is enable for RevoScan latest version ( requirement for PC Mode)
Thanks for the input and suggestions. Understanding that the Miraco does require a lot of power I have tried connection with 2 different powered USB hubs, both of which give me the same results. The weird part is that under camera devices, I can actually see that both cameras of the Miraco are recognized by the PC and are showing live and working video from the Miraco, all while revoscan shows that it is connecting, which it never does. I have tried uninstalling the camera drivers and reinstalling, but no change…The camera privacy settings are set to allow Revoscan access. I just think that there must be a driver issue going on with my PC.
In any event, I have since learned that the Miraco does now allow me to calibrate it from the Miraco, so, that solves my real issue. I can live without PC mode working, so all is good for me.
Tye camera drivers have nothing to do with the issue , it is the USB port itself .
You can remove all devices that you have connected from your computer and try again on other ports , use your own good thunderbolt USB C cable as well .
If you use adapter that may be a problem since they not all works well .
The device will normally connect to the system as plug and play , but that is only for data transfer, the PC mode requires more since you allows the Miracle to be used also as a scanner on your PC and not just a data transfer device , 2 different protocols.
I go through this issue for a long time after Miraco was first introduced , it worked well on my tablet win11 but not on my PC .
Sadly there is not straight forward fix for this that would works for everyone , for me a powered hub with thunderbolt cable fixed it , for others may be something else .
Most important you can calibrate it and import projects for processing to your PC, all what you really need.
