I just got a mini 2 to compliment my Range. Every time I try to connect to it via wifi or USB it triggers the mini2 to restart.
My first attempt was using the powerbank handle (Revopoint) that I use with my range1. It is rated at 5V/2A. The Mini2 powers up, I can find the Wi-Fi network on my android phone and I can connect to it. I open up revo-scan and the icon spins in the middle of the revo-scan screen for around 10 seconds and then the power indicator goes red on the scanner and it restarts.
I have tried plugging the scanner into my USB-3 (blue) port on my desktop pc, this time using revo-scan 6. I can boot the device and connect to it and the scanner stays connected fine until I start a new scan off at which point the Mini2 restarts itself.
I’m starting to think this scanner has some power related issue. Does anybody have any ideas?
If the scanner restart itself in both WiFi and USB connection , it probably have hardware issue .
I would not waste time here and contact customer@revopoint3d.com for technical assistance , please make a phone video showing the scanner disconnecting while connecting via USB for faster support and send it via email to the support.
Normally when the scanner disconnecting while using WiFi is because the computer switch the network automatic if Internet is not detected what need manual settings under the computer WiFi to prevent it . But if it do the same under USB then it is 99% hardware issue .
So far I have submitted logs, extra logs from a diag tool and I have a 1-1 meeting tomorrow morning with R&D so I’ll see what that brings.
Given the logs that I collected as an input, chatgpt is predicting it’s a brownout issue where the increased power draw when everything turns on when initiating a scan is triggering a restart, most likely due to a damaged/faulty component. I’m interested to see whether R&D agree.
