Hello guys i’d need a help . I bought recently a Metro Y 3d scanner . I still havent bought any computer to manage it because hardware requirement are much confusing on the websites and much more those on user manuals. It’s not clear what Mac’s minimum requirements are M1/M1pro/max /ultra chip or M2/M2pro chip. But my doubt is : if M2 chips are good to pass the revo metro configuration test for a metro y why a more recent M4 chip couldnt support a Metro y min req. Shortly what i need to know by a user that has a metro y …what mac computer is using with what chip and how many ram he is using to support this scanner. For me it would be very cheap to buy a Makbook air with m4 chip and 16 gb of ram …it costs here in italy less than 900 euros , but i need to know if is there any limit on scanning modes if i use that computer.
Hi
Another user stated to get very decent scanning performance with his metro y pro and the same configuration.
Yet, be aware, your RAM is below even the minimum requirements, and RAM size is crucial for processing the point cloud later on. Depending on the resolution and the size of the object you will be limited sooner than you think.![]()
As the RAM prices on Apples are even more expensive than on windows PCs, you maybe might consider some good used/refurbished PC offer (DDR4 is just fine)
