I have a brand new MetroX. My computer is an Apple Studio with M4 silicon and a ton of memory, CPUs and GPUs. I have downloaded (the up to date) Revo Scan 5.6.9 Metrox and it seems to work. I also connected the USB turntable and that worked too.
I have done a few scans with the usual newbie level of tantalizing disappointments. I decided I would try to calibrate the scanner, so I followed the directions and … yeah not good.
Well lit area. No long shadows. I got the QR code scanned after a long period of waving the scanner over it at varying heights. My phone spots the QR code instantly! I flipped over the calibration board and tried to go through the example without much success. Then I tried the real thing.
I didn’t successfully pass ANY of the calibration steps. The on-screen display starts out sluggish and doesn’t seem to be sensitive to the scanner position. After a while the green sliders turn gray and the display freezes.. I quit and restarted the program several times with the same result each time.
Is the calibration program supposed to work on a current Mac with Apple silicon? And if so, is there something I am likely to be doing wrong?
I was not expecting to become an expert by calibrating the scanner. I only thought to give that a go because I was not happy with the resolution of a couple of small parts I had scanned yesterday.
My first ever scan was the tail section of a 1/8 Jaguar roadster I am building.
Overall I am satisfied with the scanner so far, although I am less impressed with the software. I write software for a living, so I am good at following directions. I will get better.
There’s some kind of glitch that causes two lines in an INI file to be wrong - leastwise, that was the case with my ‘X not calibrating. Contact support with your log files and they’ll get you sorted out.
Also, use the Revo Metro (no ‘X) software, the ‘X software got left behind and the newest software is the Metro version. I know, confusing, but is what it is.
That are a very good results as for a starter , I don’t see here any reason for calibration .
I do not question your capacity, just you need a little more practice to master it and to know better your new tool. You are on a very good path .
However please contact customer@revopoint3d.com regarding the calibration issue , I left a note yesterday by Customer service regarding your issue and they awaiting your email .
Now that is really weird. I just checked the download site again and the Revo Scan 5 MetroX product is no longer listed. The software on my machine says “Already the latest version” V5.6.9.326.
Unfortunately the Metro download pane says the software only supports X86, but I’m on Apple M4 Max silicon. So maybe I am stuck in a corner?
Thanks for the clarification. My MetroX is only a few weeks old, so possibly made after October. My Mac Studio is a few months old, but is kept up to date. I would use the new Revo Metro if it was able to run on my machine, but the download pane says it only runs on Intel silicon. If that is true then I am blocked from being able to really exploit my scanner until Revopoint delivers a version for Apple silicon. Can you please provide clarity on the supported software?
Hi Chris , not one of Revopoint software is running on MAC originally, but they all support the chips .
Revo Scan MetroX was not different.
It suppose to work the same way , try !
In the future they will switch to Apple Silicon but not yet.
