Metro X compared to Pop4, scanning monster clay and smaller models / pcbs

Hi there, hope everyone is doing well.

I had a quick question in regards to the Metro X vs the Pop4.
My main use case would be scanning sculptures produced in monster clay (around 1Mx1Mx1M in size) which contain detailed surface finishes, as well as possibly smallish PCBs (enough i can use there dimensions in cad), and i am wondering which scanner would be most appropriate.

I assume both would work well, but i was thinking if for example the X would really be worth the extra price. I don’t see myself scanning anything that needs colour or people.

This would be the first scanner i have used, beyond photogrammetry and the basic lidar scanner on a iPhone.

Thanks for you help

Hi @faulty

I would go with POP 4 , it have great Hybrid and VCSEL mode and it handle any color materiał , MetroX use Full Field with blue light than can be very picky on some materials and color and need lots of features to be scanned proper . So for sculpture at that size definitely POP 4 , POP 4 can even scan flat pictures and don’t need markers for tracking in it’s 3 modes so more versatile in your case with good accuracy .
