… but it runs inside a KVM/Qemu Win10 virtual machine (I’m using virtmanager for ease of use) and also the 3D display is reasonably fast since I’ve installed the Mesa OpenGL and D3D10 drivers from here:
It’s still just software rendering, but on my Ryzen 5950X the rendering speed is more than sufficient.
Lack of Linux support or at least open API is frustrating. I’m trying to bruteforce the SSH password for the RANGE device. No luck so far, 5 more days to go…
Currently, it might be challenging to focus on a Linux software version as the team is prioritizing the improvement of the current Revo Scan version.
However, we have taken note of users’ requests for a Linux software option, and we have already reported it to our product team. They will carefully evaluate and consider it.
We appreciate your understanding and patience in this matter. Thank you in advance.
Are there any news or plans regarding a Linux version?
I facing the requirement to switch completely to Linux next year, as Windows 11 is inacceptable to be used with personal data - too much cloud integration.
As my Inspire and Revopoint 5 is really great, i would miss them.
Are there any options, like a more generic export from the mobile apps?
So an exported point cloud could be used with MeshLab.
After you processed the scan on your mobile app , you can access direct the project file on your computer via usb and download direct the Fused point cloud from that project .
Regarding Linux version , no news about it at this moment .
Thanks for for the tip. This is working so far.
The results are much worse than with the Revopoint 5 Software.
I used a iPad Pro M1 but the WiFi Connection is not working so good.
I live in a very dense Wifi environment with around 35 Wifi Networks around.
Took ages the get the scanner connected and the streaming wasn’t smooth.
I will give the single shot mode a try at the weekend.
Then I shared the Scan to a file (… more), transferred to PC and found the ply.
Works good with Meshlab (Screened Poisson surface reconstruction).
So at least the scanner is not completely lost, when i switch to Linux.
Our network has purchased more than 800 units of Revopoint Pop2, and we use Linux Ubuntu. It is a shame that we cannot use it with native GNU/Linux software, which is a disappointment for me. In fact, I was planning to buy one for personal use, but now I know I won’t.
Anyway, I would like to add my vote to those requesting a native GNU/Linux version.
