Not useless, but definitely not nesesery in this case , it would increase the production cost by a lot and if failed, Revopoint would be responsible, so common sense and warning labels works better in this case .
Unless youāre dead
Markers canāt move
Donāt give them ideas to get blind Ivan
I think a big point on MetroX could be a wireless mode via Wifi. Cables and Power Supplies, thick USB-Cables are annoying. On the picture it seems not quite secured, but there seems to be a cable. Hopefully Wifi 6(E) is already on board.
Hi @theFlow
It is indoor 3D laser scanner not portable mobile scanner and it requires high voltage power supply while scanning , for that reason it is wired . Donāt forget 7 millions points per seconds , that amount of data canāt be processed even with a regular laptop .
For comparison full scan with MINI series produces as much points with full scan as MetroX per second.
Do you see the difference?
7 million points per second is mental. Proper industrial scanning levels of data there.
Iām guessing weāre not going to run this with an iPhone
Maybe by iPhone 30 ā¦
HighVoltage? You mean like 1000 V?
I would assume that about 3 21650 LiIon cells can run such a scanner around 2 hours.
However, I was talking about wireless, not standalone or running on mobile phones.
And Wifi6E is theorethical capable to handle around 10 Gbit/s, that ist twice as USB 3.0 offers. Iām a fan of cables. Stability and reliability reasons. But for 3D Scanning it is really a mess to have a cable attached. Even if you think outside a desk.
So as other scanners offers such a function it might be oportune too.
Probably it means power, not voltage, but even so, a lithium battery can produce much more than a USB port.
It use cable for power and data because that is how it was designed one year ago, plus more other things that you will know about very soon when the KS campaign starts .
Yes , but that donāt change the fact that it still needs a power outlet.
What you going to do with a lithium battery ? What about 1000W PC ?
When you walk with a scanner around the same engine, the movement is several meters and any wire gets in the way. And lithium and other modern batteries allow you to work with much more energy-intensive devices than a 3D scanner. My chain saw runs on a battery, of course such a battery will not fit in a 3D scanner, it will be too heavy, but what prevents you from making a separate battery that can be worn on a belt or as a shoulder bag, but at the same time you do not need to make a cart with a computer and a socket and move all this around the scanned product, as you have to do now with wired scanners.
There is no talk of abandoning the computer when scanning, as theFlow said, there is Wi-Fi for transmitting information to the computer.
Sorry PUTV, I think it is a shame, that we are not allowed, what we (the potential buyers) expect and want we like so see. You are arguing wide away from facts. Battery Powered Tools are the current state of the art. Iām developing battery powered medical devices for over 20 years. A laser grid, camera, a cpu and a wireless module will not need much power. At the end this scanner will have a 12V max 2A Power Supply⦠What you are talking about the connected PC with 1000 W?
Maybe Iām totally wrong, but I think any customer will be really annoyed if a device will come up with cables, then half a year later the wifi solution came up in a new productā¦
The design is final and KS starts very soon , there is not time for redesigning things , it would take months to prepare changes like that as it was designed in over 12 months , so not over night process , not to mention it would probably make the scanner cost $5000 or more what would be no more consumer price friendly.
The SCANNER do not scan via Wi-Fi so lithium batteries will not change anything here.
I suggest you wait for the KS campaign for more specific informations about it , and what it really do , what you need to run it on and for what you can use it .
Each scanner is created for a specific tasks and that is not different with MetroX .
I understand, Iām still curious what Revopoint will show us on Kickstarter.
Trust me I would love to have it all , but not this time .
Sorry I canāt share any more informations , you need to wait for the KS campaign and then we can talk more about as things going to be more clear for you .
Of course because I said nothing much, because I canāt . It is hard to have conversation when I have to watch my words . You donāt want me to be fired , do you ?
If I could compare MetroX to any previous Revopoint scanner , it would be not a Range or Miraco ⦠more if a Mini 2 + Miraco Plus had a baby , and with some extras lol
It is clear that the company is entering the Kickstarter with an almost fully formed device. But there is always a compromise, like the solution proposed above in the form of an additional device with a wired connection to the scanner, carrying a fairly powerful battery and being at the same time a wireless transmitter to the PC. This device will make the scanner portable within the range of Wi-Fi, which will allow you to comfortably work with both engines and cars without getting tangled in wires. It is clear that this is a separate development, but you can think about it today. And the presence of such an additional device will definitely increase the number of end users of the scanner itself.
Thank you so much for all your suggestions .
