Ken's MetroX Beta Showcase

Impressive. I’m looking forward to use Fullfield Scan Mode!

Can someone try to find out, how dark an objekt could be? What about typical black plastic things, like a headset or a mouse. Is this feasable with Fullfield?
Thanks for your Cases!

Hi Florian , it is not about the color , it is about the material it’s is made off , material that absorb light . Black cotton vs White Cotton scans the same . But materials that use oil in their production not so , that includes waxed, resins and other light absorbing materials .
Laser mode is better , it don’t discriminate :joy:

Leaf

I swear I didn’t get distracted when I was supposed to be raking the yard.

Okay maybe I did. But it was worth it.

I grabbed this interesting leaf and decided it had to be preserved in high-resolution digital detail forever more.

Just a quick scan in Auto Turntable Mode and boom, a beautiful scan of a leaf.

I’m super happy with these results

But you did only one side, didn’t you? No 360° model?

Yep, on sided scan.

The leaf is super flexible. Just handling it changes the shape, so flipping to scan the other side would result in 2 nice scans, but of such different geometry that I wouldn’t be able to merge at all. It would be like trying to scan 2 sides of a wet towel, no way to flip it.

Maybe if I got a more “crunchy” leaf?

Or maybe if I froze it before scanning?

Now you’ve got me thinking…

Banana for Scale

For as long as I can remember, I’ve seen people use a banana for scale.
But have we ever actually properlly scaled a banana?

Well, I’m a boy with a metrology grade scanner, a bowl of bananas, and a :sparkles: dream :sparkles:. So I made it happen.

Through the power of lasers, I present to you the most accurately scanned banana*
*(most accurately scanned by me, at least  )

Simple scan, cross wire mode, two scans, merged and meshed.

And rendered in yellow, because what other color would I use?
No photo, unfortunately. I got hungry while working on the mesh.

Completely absurd? Sure. Would I scan it again? Absolutely.

Not absurd at all, but a true money printing machine you have here. Only some tape needed.

I reckon you could print the tape as well, and fit magnets in the back for attaching…!
