Having a backdrop matters?

I’m still new and am still struggling to get good final outputs.

Curious about your choice of backdrop. I have been scanning with nothing in the near background, unlike yours which is close.

Do you find that A) having a backdrop matters? and B) that the type of backdrop is important?

Hi @eventhorizons

Backdrop absolutely will make scanning the worse experience , you should have nothing in the background or anywhere else if possible .

Please use the Range settings in the software to adjust the sensor range where it do not capture anything behind the object in the background .

If you use turntable while scanning it is crucial , anything that do not move with your object while scanning can mess up your tracking in the process as well .

To avoid scanning the bottom , I use black silicone rubber mats. But you can use even black plastic Amazon have great black plastic table cloths , they are hard to scan and great for the purpose as well .

I already move everything in the background out of range and narrow the sensor rage, but it makes sense to tightly control the nature of the background.

I will try as you say, including using a black tablecloth.

Thanks!

Make sure it is made from black plastic and not fabric , unless the fabric is pure nylon or any other synthetic oils based fabric. Black cotton will not works .

I use this matte black PVC backdrop, and it works really well for me: https://it.aliexpress.com/item/1005004558482100.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.72.b4b13696cOdlQQ&gatewayAdapt=glo2ita

Hi @Ecoscan

I used it for a long time with Mini and Range before the range settings was introduced .
They works well , the red works great with Mini series and Metro series too when using Full Field or Auto mode
