Frame Alignment N/W

Please advise how not to loose frame alignment

use objects with features , this object do not have any features and requires markers mode , or additional object around it to be capable to keep tracking

Structured light scanning heavily depends on object’s features to be able to scan correctly .

marker mode + marker turntable
or put some random clothes nearby, even random shape blutack would work

@PUTV and @kkula9999 you are awesome.
I did what you proposed Key marks + stuff around.
but still I have 2 bottles after a bit of time.

I can use CloudCompare afterward or any other tool managing separated pointclouds, but with RevoScan to export the data, I first have to merge the pointclouds into a single pointcloud, and I so LOOSE the grouped information of points inside their own frame. Please advise. :disappointed_relieved:

Hi, try now changing the scanning mode to “marker mode”. You should see an improvement

You need to pay attention at the distance , you should not get too closer , stay in the green area of distance between excellent and good

Add small elements next to the bottle, it can be simple box of matches , small crumble paper anything to help keep tracking .

Best if you use turntable, you are using Range right ?
Try on bigger objects like shoe

I also tried to do it with single shot photo scan (HERE is 2 different scans plus export in ASC) and have some successes to reconnect them but it’s too long for a workable process

try adjust the scanning distance

I am using the RANGE 2 RevoPoint scanner without a turntable. Last Monday, I used the RevoScan web app to TRY to digitize a statue, but the result was messy. Now, I’m trying to get a workable result / process. This is a test to decide whether to keep or discard the RANGE 2. Unfortunately, I’m unable to complete the scan because each time the frames are misaligned. My problem here is to have a workable result to build a mesh.

I appreciate the device, app is good in theory but I cannot make it

may be the bottle you scanning is too small for range series

here is i just scanned a cylinder bottle with marker mode

and feature mode, with some reference model beside the bottle

scanning small object without turntable could be harder, especially bottle-like item with limited feature, but the ‘feature/ marker’ mode concept are similar

You use the PC app when you scan? Right?
You put markers everytime? Right?
You scan constant, no single shot scan? Right?

What do you do when a bad frame is wrongly kept?
Can you cancel the last movements?
Can you decide to keep the good scans?

Much appreciated @kkula9999 :art:

mac/pc app, yes
marker mode, depends on what I scan , but i use feature mode most of the time, unless scanning less feature item
so far i havent use single shot scan mode so far

pause scan (not cancel :joy:) then use undo button on your right

Hi @adurand33

There is something really wrong with the workflow of yours

I am suspecting you need to watch some tutorials to better understand what you are doing .

This is not the approach
For scanning with structured light scanner .

Please follow the advice of others and try to recreate it .

It is not that difficult as long you know what you are doing .

Please post results based on the advices as that is the only way to success .

Keep the distance right and scan objects according to Range 2
Capacity.

You should not get much issues scanning the art sculpture but maybe it was too reflective .

Try on medium size objects
Take a simple shoe and that will be enough to practice on

You also use wrong the single frame shot function

You don’t scan separate frames to merge them late somewhere else , you need to move around the object and scan it as you would do picture of it so each single frame align with another automatic .

You have lots to catch up my friend !

Check Range Tutorials

I watched tutorials and it seems I need a turn table because most of the time it’s PC connection plus turn table. Right?
A turntable with a 30 to 50 cm diameter, in matte black or dark gray, would be a good choice for scanning a medium-sized statue. Right? :star_struck:

you don’t need a turntable, here’s a video recorded especially for you, early in the morning before first coffee

whats the photogrammetry advantage in your opinion🙇‍♀️?

Thank you my friend, seems so easy in your hands, I will try for sure to be as good as you are :tophat:

I tried using Meshroom and followed tutorials like the Monster Tree one, which seemed so easy. However, when I took my own photos, the results weren’t as successful. :disappointed_relieved:
