It took a while to get used to it, but it did work. Now I am figuring out how to make a slight modification. I need to make the bottom solid with precise dimensions and a hole for a bolt. I am trying freecad,
One more note, what I have found is that the Miraco does a much better job of cleaning up the scan than the PC software.
If you are trying to reverse engineer, you want to do minimal clean up. Smoothing evens out the surface and make sit look nice, but you can lose details that way. Just depends what you are working on.
I haven’t looked into freecad, but I know Fusion 360 is a popular platform at a reasonable cost for reverse engineering.
Well it turned out better than I thought it would. All of the dimensions are exact. I just drilled the hole and it seems like it is robust enough to work.
This is my first time using PETG+ for printing. It did leave some artifacts that I guess I could have sanded out. They are both painted. The original for scanning. I decided I like it white better than black.
It is a handle/latch for the wing windows of my boat. You use it to pull the window closed and then it rotates (latches) on the frame. I will install it soon to see how it works.
If you process on MIRACO it uses lower settings while processing so easier to clean it after.
You can do the same on PC and not set everything to maximum as that’s not always create the desired results
For reverse engineering the best results are if you keep the fusing at the highest settings to preserve the accuracy as much as possible , clean after lose and Overlapping points and mesh at the same GRID as your fusing settings , and never go above it .
