It would be very useful for dental scans. If you select the merge multiple objects function from multiple scans, the overlaps are automatically detected and the objects aligned. Now each individual object should be able to be saved in this position. This would be perfect for dental scans. I’m a master dental technician.
For that you will need pre registration function where objects align but not really merge with each other.
That would also require to have more than one project open in the viewport than one , this option would be little difficult due to the size as a lot of RAM would be needed to handle all of it not to mention lots of VRAM.
Dor that reason it was not added yet because RS is basically a scanning software and not 3D editing software.
However it could be fixed by allowing importing point clouds and all them to be ore alignment.
I do all the work right now using free software called Cloud Compare where you can import all your dental scans and pre align them all together yet have them all separate as individual objects.
