Thanks for the super prompt reply, but… I tried all of the options above but… nothing
What is the best file to import, if I only get from Revoscan the ply format: _fuse or _mesh?
Would I need to map the _mesh.jpg to the object? (that I see is a texture file) Or Revoscan saves the texture even in the _mesh.ply file?
Pls excuse, but… just a noob on Blender…
PS: when I finished the scan process I forgot to immediately save the OBJ file, and if I now go to the “Model List” menu, I can batch process several scans but… at the end I can ONLY EXPORT a PLY file… Is this a BUG (forgetfulness) to be reported to Revopoint? I spent much time to be scanned correctly (by a second person), several scans and lights, that I’d rather prefer not starting it all again only to have an OBJ file (if the PLY is ok).
The ply format in the project directory do not include UVs so it will not load your textures in Blender , you need to use batch processing in Revo Scan , and export desired obj format to use in Blender and not load your mesh from the project folder if you want textures.
Go to Model List in Revo Scan , select your model and click on the Batch processing … you will be able to export your model with textures . You should have OBJ, MTL, TEXT files after exporting , usually the mesh file will be called : obj_mesh_text
PLY format do not include textures , it only include RGB color per vertex information ( ply_RGB) the RGB data can be converted to textures as well but the UVs need to be created manually before projecting RGB to UVs . There is plenty of tutorials on YouTube how to do that in Blender.
Thanks “Pop”
I did exactly the batch processing, even yesterday… but it only allowed a PLY export. Just now retried for the n-th time and finally… the menu with the different export formats.
Therefore I exported the OBJ one and obtained 4 files:
project_fuse.obj
project_mesh_tex.jpg
project_mesh_tex.mtl
project_mesh_tex.obj → I’ll try using this one.
I can use Rhino 7 (not advanced) but with Blender I’m really new… I’ve to find some time to go through the basics/manual, at least…
PS. Meanwhile I’ve done the firmware update as well, for the POP2 (it was on 2.5.25.20220207). And Obviously the process blocked while it was updating… ahah now I’ve a new issue to solve out, given it seemed bricked
