I frequently scan similar items repeatedly, so the process and settings are always the same, with lots of mouse clicking. Even though the workflow in Revo Scan is great (One-Click Edit works well), it can get very repetitive.
It would be great to have keyboard shortcuts for all tasks in Revo Scan. There are quite a few already provided, but not enough and shortcuts for several key functions seem to be missing. It would be helpful to have keyboard shortcuts for at least the following, if not for all possible functions to help automate repetitive tasks:
- Editing tabs access (unique shortcut for accessing each tab: e.g., One-Click Edit tab, Fusion tab, etc.)
- One-click Edit>Apply
- Export>All Models (it should automatically save to file folder with user selectable path, similar to the Save function)
- Export>Point Clouds (it should automatically save to file folder with user selectable path, similar to the Save function)
- Export>Mesh Models (it should automatically save to file folder with user selectable path, similar to the Save function)
- Close Project (then currently open one)
- Open new project (from the first UI window, before a project is open)
- Unique shortcut for start scanning and stop/pause scanning (BTW, the space bar shortcut is not mentioned in the user manual)
In addition, it would be great to have bi-directional commands via a serial port. I have the David Laser Scanner software (probably a decade old) and one of the great features of it is that it has bidirectional serial commands, using just single alphabet letters. This allows automating repetitive scanning with a microprocessor such as an Arduino so users to build their own custom turntable or develop other automation (e.g., unique access configurations and/or much larger/heavy duty turntables).
If other have similar requests or support these suggestions, please express your support. This should be relatively easy for Revopoint to implement and gain competitive advantage.
BTW: Revo Scan and Revo scanners are great - I have two!
