Version 5.8.5 introduces the following improvements and new features:

1. Boosted CPU Laser Line Scanning Performance

Revo Metro V5.8.5 greatly enhances CPU performance for laser line scans, enabling smoother real-time feedback and faster data capture.

2. New High-Speed Laser Line Scanning Mode

A new High-Speed laser line-scanning mode enables smoother, faster scans and improved corner transitions by enhancing marker detection when the scanner is angled.

3. Automatic Depth Camera Exposure in Laser Line Mode

Automatic exposure control for the depth camera during laser line scans enhances stability and scan quality on surfaces with varying conditions.

4. Alternative M Button Function Menu

The M button now enables menu switching with a short press. Available toggle functions include:

  • +/- key to toggle full-screen view

  • Depth camera exposure

  • +/- key to switch laser line types

  • Laser brightness adjustment

5. Automatic Hiding of Depth Camera Viewport During Scanning

The depth camera preview will be hidden after beginning the scan, and can be opened manually during scanning.

6. Invert Unselected Content Delete Function

Added support for inverse selection deletion, enabling users to delete all unselected content with a single action.

7. Adjustable Smoothing Brush Parameters

The smoothing brush now offers adjustable strength and size, enabling more precise control during post-processing.

8. Point Distance Consistency Across Scan Modes

When switching between scan modes, the previously set point distance is kept instead of being reset.

9. Full-Screen Preview Button During Scanning

Added a full-screen live preview button during scanning for better real-time monitoring.

10. Third-Party Software Integration: Geomagic

Added a direct export and jump-to option for Geomagic, making third-party post-processing workflows more efficient.

11. Shortcut Key Settings and Reference Added

We added shortcut key options and in-software explanations for easier discovery and use.

12. Left-Camera Coordinate System Export

Models can now be exported using the scanner’s left camera as the origin, enhancing compatibility with inspection and metrology workflows.

One of your greatest updates and it was worth going up from 5.8.4. by only 0.0.1 ?!

What are you cooking for 5.9 or even 6.0? One thing is for sure: you never stop to surprise and amaze!

Great job, Revopoint-Team! :raising_hands: Keep up the great work!:flexed_biceps:

Are you going to implement some of these features for the Revo track software for trackit scanner users

Niiiiice! =)))

Hi @Jonna

All software will get updates as the time pass. Some of the features are really nesesery , so definitely yes !

Nice update, loving my MetroY Pro.

One feature I would really like is creating a plane by for example selecting 3 points and deleting everything under that plane. (Removing table/scanningturntable after the scan was taken and not enable it before).

It has better and faster option now
To remove the ground in second .

I could not find this meme , but was my first choice too :joy: :+1:t2:

Finally using that M button as a Menu. Glad it made it.

Now can we get a ding, beep or chime when a process has finished (fusing, meshing, texturing)

Great update truly.

Now all that remains is color scanning with all 5 modes as promised and we are good to go.

Any ETA on that perhaps?

Hi @VT48

Not yet

omg i just upgraded my 1080ti to 3090 for the scanning lol, lets see which is better for scanning with gpu or cpu

After installing the new version, my Inspire 2 starts flickering every few seconds in the Depth Camera preview, dropping the frame rate from about 80 to 45, and sometimes losing orientation. I use it on my desktop computer using a USB-C to USB-A adapter.

Hi @Snafu

Please contact customer@revopoint3d.com
For technical assistance .

Include the screenshot in your email as well.

First of all, I would like to thank the revopoint team for the new version and for their hard work.

This is my first impressions (for now i don’t improve the first scan for new version because i’m busy), In my case, mac mini m4 16gb ram, with sequoia 15.7.4 and metroYpro

  • In the performance check now says “good” and in the previous version said “your pc may experience lag during metroypro”
  • The 3dconnexion-spacemouse rotation function (the two buttons work fine) is not working, but it worked perfectly in the previous version v5.8.4.31.
  • If I want to close the application with cmd+q or revometer/exit, the application does not close and I have to force exit to do so.

I haven’t tested the 3D scanning yet (I’m busy with work), and if the space mouse doesn’t work and the application crashes when I try to exit, I’ll wait for the new version that fixes these problems. While the previous version was somewhat slow compared to what it promises, the new one removes functionality.

@Osk4r space mouse is working for me (3d connexion professional). I’ve found that I have to open the spacemouse function menu sometimes to get it to work like it should. I had to swap my zoom to be how I like it, but it worked as wanted after that. Also, how you gonna come bash on the software if you havent even tried it for scanning. You’re too busy to do a test scan, but not busy enough to come on here and complain…..

what I can say is that this is an excellent upgrade, the usability has increased by a head, the feedback from the developers is excellent, we are waiting for the use of all the cores of our processors during processing.:clap::clap:

@Nickluvin I’m very glad it works for you on Windows, but not everything that works on Windows works on Mac.

In fact, I spent all morning and part of the afternoon trying to fix it with Gemini and ChatGPT before posting the problem (if you consider it a complaint, my apologies).
I could have used that time to scan, which is what I was really looking forward to because of the important new features that were arriving, and that’s why I started my post by thanking the software team.

However, for Mac users, I should mention that although it requires a more powerful computer, everything in the previous version works very well, including the space mouse, without modifying any settings.
