Why no auto tilt for the dual axis turntable when using laser scanning?

Hey everyone. I just got my MetroY Ultra and I’m getting my bearings here.

One thing that I noticed that the automated tilt feature of the dual axis turntable only works in the auto-turntable mode, which uses full-field as opposed to laser scanning. Why isn’t there an auto-turntable for laser scanning? The turntable will automatically spin when laser scanning, and I know you can change the tilt in the software manually, so why can’t we automate that? The fact that we can’t automate the tilt just like we do the spin seems to be a big oversight and missed opportunity.

Am I missing something here?

Hi @tmiller

The tilt will make the markers invisible at that position for that reason there is no tilt

You should not use the scanner on a tripod when using Laser mode , it requires fast movements back and forth to avoid artifacts .
Auto mode is different than Full Field or laser mode and it requires the scanner to be in steady position while scanning for the best results .

This is what I was beginning to figure out how to avoid getting those “artifacts”

Makes sense. Thanks

However, I will say, I think it would still be useful to have an option where the tilt is constantly going, and then users would be able to control the speed, just like we do with the spin. I get it now that the scanner shouldn’t be stationary when using laser modes, but this tilt automation could still be helpful for handheld scanning. What do you say?

Hi @tmiller

You can control the speed in all modes .
You can control the tilt manually as well by pushing the buttons on your Dual Axis

However automatic control for tilt with laser mode will not happen . You can use the manual buttons to do the tilt making sure your objects are secured on the plate so they don’t fall off .

Also download the mobile app to control the Dual Axis.

I have another app made by my friend that allows you fully control it of course not official app , will send you the link when I find it as I am not home at this moment .
