Why is Revoscan 6 not compatible with the older scanner ranges?

What exactly prevents you—aside from pushing people to consume more, buy more, and accept planned obsolescence—from making Revoscan v6 compatible with previous scanners, like the first‑generation Mini, for example? If this hardware were ten years old, maybe I could understand, but that’s far from the case. As it stands, this kind of approach really doesn’t make anyone want to keep buying products from this brand. It’s genuinely sad and disappointing.

Hi @SAGEA,

I am writing to provide some additional perspective regarding the hardware and firmware limitations we discussed. The reality is that older hardware simply cannot support many of the newer features being developed today.

Moving older devices forward often yields diminishing returns, as they are already performing at their peak capacity with Revo Scan 5. Creating new software profiles that cannot utilize modern algorithms would not offer a genuine improvement in performance. In the electronics industry, technology evolves so rapidly that hardware is often outdated shortly after purchase; if a device isn’t being used to generate revenue, it is difficult to view it as a long-term financial investment. We see this same trend with smartphones, where a two-year-old model can still make calls, but eventually loses compatibility with the newest applications.

While the era of buying a single electronic device for life has passed, it is important to note that your current device still includes lifetime support. This level of ongoing commitment is rare among brands today and ensures that your tool remains functional for its original intended use.

I ask that you reconsider this context. Technology must move forward, and your device continues to perform exactly the tasks for which it was purchased. Given the lifetime support provided, this remains a fair and functional arrangement.

Hi. I have the Revopoint mini 1 and am very disapointed that this will not be part of Revoscan 6. I was thinking of comlimenting it with the Range 2.If 6 has some functions that the mini cannot.

Hi @Harveyib

You don’t miss anything , there is nothing in RS 6 that can make your Mini 1 works better than in RS 5 , you lose nothing .

Personally I still work in RS5 using my Mini 2 and Range as I like personally the workflow much better .

There is seriously nothing to be disappointed with.
