Revopoint mini prematurely obsolete!

I want to know why it is not possible to install version 6. Having to uninstall version 5, I have a mini version 1 as well as a Miraco Plus, and I don’t intend to throw away the mini because you as a company have already discarded it, and I will be losing a considerable amount of money, and you are forcing me to pollute the planet even more with a policy like this. It would be good if at least it were possible to install the new version. Without forcing me to delete version 5, that would surely be a sacrifice, considering that it has not even been 10 years since the last official sale of an electronic product, which is regulated at least in the European Union, and the obsolescence of this product is no exception to the rule! It is also high time that you disclosed information about the production limits of a specific model in order to calculate its useful life with regard to software support guarantees, since you launch something new on the market practically every year and leave everything that came before in the shadows. This irritates me greatly, and as a customer, it is very frustrating to see that my device has become nothing more than trash in such a short time.

Hi @Gge

Who told you that you need to uninstall Revo Scan 5 to be able to install Revo Scan 6 ?

I have both installed next to each other without issues , that are 2 separate software independent from each other.

Maybe next time you ask first before writing stuff about European Union, pollution and all that things that was not necessary and have not relation whatever.

Your Mini is still valid, just uninstall RevoScan 6 and install RevoScan 5 again, it is available as a download.

Roberto , you don’t have to go back uninstall anything , both software are independent and can be installed without issues on the same computer.
MIRACO Plus is intendet to be use with Revo Scan 6 , so he need both software to be installed .

I am sorry but your reply just confuse the whole situation regarding both software .

Thanks for the comments. You’re right about the difference between versions 5 and 6, since they’re actually very different and their logic is also different now. It’s almost like starting over to learn the program and get familiar with it. I have already read the comments regarding the compatibility and effectiveness of the program with Miraco Plus, and for now I will stick with version 5 without going into details so that the moderator doesn’t get angry with me again, and perhaps waiting for new firmware dedicated to Miraco Plus and continuing to use the little mini until the candles no longer burn! As for my comment on obsolescence, I still believe that I am right in saying that the software support period is very short and that it should at least be compatible for 10 years. If they want to discontinue it, they should announce it in advance. At least I didn’t notice that if it was announced or published somewhere.

Hi!

I don’t see your problem.

Revo Scan 5 is very mature 3d scanning software (I actually like more than version 6) and won’t stop working just because there are newer software versions not supporting mini 1. So, as long your PC and Mini (or other older, discontinued 3d scanner) run, you are good to go and use it for unlimited time using older compatible Revo Scan version you like the most.

And, like @PUTV said, because you can have different software versions installed in parallel, you can use other versions and revopoint 3d scanners, at any time too.

I know there are other brands or products , once dismissed not working anymore (e.g. HP Reverb G2 after windows update), but with Revopoint that isn’t the case. You’ll even get support for their older product years after buying and long after warranty expired (ask me how I know).

So, worry less and scan more :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:
Best regards

As critical of 5 as I’ve been, I like it better too.

There is completely no problem and I don’t see any problem , nobody is angry with you , you are just angry on nothing.

You can still continue using normally Revo Scan 5 with your mini and get support forever

So not need for all the dramas and fuzz as there is none.

And you are welcome to share your opinion and feedback as long you don’t change the facts.

To conclude this discussion once and for all… I have been a user since the beginning of this company with version 2 of the pop and the first range. I later bought the mini and since then I have seen a huge amount of progress in the software and have managed to get the most out of this small scanner with very good quality, so I have always updated the program and noticed the improvements it has brought. Now, with the introduction of version 6, I am a little sad to realize that the mini is not included. The Miraco Plus is another matter… I’ve never been really convinced by it because, despite the firmware update, it still has many recognition loss problems and the number of frames is too low. Furthermore, since it has the new firmware, the reaction time has been considerably reduced when changing functions and adjusting parameters, and what irritates me most is that the battery runs out too quickly!
Question for the moderator???
Is it technically possible to change the battery? If it shows such a reduction after the firmware update…

Is it possible to make a correction to the firmware if that is the source of these new problems?

Hi @Gge

Yes it is possible , if your MIRACO Plus is already out of warranty you can request a custom battery replacement by contacting customer@revopoint3d.com and request it , of course if it is out if warranty it will be not a free service. If your MIRACO Plus has still warranty it would be a free service.

You could also contact your local phone/tablet repair store and asking them for that service.

Oh, and I almost forgot something very impressive. Now, every time I insert a USB stick into the scanner, it gives me an error message saying that there is a problem that needs to be fixed. After that, I can access the information on it, but the repair process in Windows takes 3 to 5 minutes each time and leaves me with the feeling that the USB stick will soon be useless. The USB stick is new, and no matter which one I use, the same thing always happens when I connect it to the scanner (Miraco Plus app v1.2.8.5) System Version 2.6.75.20260202
