Using desktop remotely with metro y... Bad idea?

I have a metro Y ultra in my basket but like many others I’m limited by my computer/laptop so will need to invest in that too…

I was looking at getting a laptop capable of scanning but saw that I’m looking at around £2500+ for a decent set up so considered a desktop instead for significantly less money.

My main question is, can I scan with the metro y which is in my garage that will be around 25 metres away from where my desktop will be in the house? I have seen the revo mirror app for phones but wasn’t sure how practical that is during scanning.

I wondered if I would be shooting myself in the foot by going down this route…

Thank you!

Hi @Dann2707

The Revo Mirror is a software that allows you to scan on your tablet or phone but it harvest the power of your PC , it is not typical screen mirroring software where you see your PC screen it is more sophisticated than that .

I am not sure if 25 Meter will be ok , I will have to ask the team how far you can actually be , because if you lose the speed of the WiFi you will lose the speed of the performance

You phone/tablet need to be connected to your scanner and the scanner to your PC via it’s own internal WiFI , considering there will be walls between, you may check this way .

Connect your phone to your home router 5G WiFi and check if it will work at the distance you planing to work at . I am thinking you may lose around 10% at that distance .
