Are there any plans to allow the Metro Y Pro to connect to a local wifi network, rather than only direct connection over Wifi?
I have a very robust network in my home and workshop, and wish to have my server do the processing while I scan remotely in my workshop.
I currently do not have a laptop compatible with the Revo Metro software, because I use an ARM Windows laptop (Surface Laptop 7). Being able to connect wirelessly over my network to my desktop or server would be a huge win.
There are not ability at this moment to use LAN for scanning using Laser modes , the distance and cable will make it impossible at this moment .
The current WiFi is NO internet direct scanner network between the scanner and computer at short distance.
Hopefully the developer team finds a better way in the future but right now there is not an option. One of them is Ethernet cable that can’t replace the custom cable used originally by MetroY Pro. And the specific issue is Laser mode .
The issue is that my server is in a basement, 100m from my shop. I have 2.5gig speeds all the way to the server, so in practice the latency shouldn’t be an issue. I suppose I could try VirtualHere or similar as a bridge.
All you need is a simple USB WiFi adapter connected to your PC and that’s all. The scanner’s WiFi network is not Internet based and currently will not connect to your home router.
