Turntable Marker Ring

I have been trying to scan a difficult object where I need to get the scanner down very low to scan the underside faces. The scanner then warns me, “Not Enough Markers” I cant really use scan towers as they sometimes get in the way.

I designed and 3D printed a marker ring that slips over the existing turntable to add extra markers at low angles…..

What do you think ?

What scanner are you using?

I would say there is too many markers there. But yea if the ring is afixed to the top of the turntable and it rotates as it does. Then its good.

Now that is brilliant idea Mike

I love that idea , it was clever to to create the ring with the diamond pattern to avoid the symmetric issue at angle .

I don’t think there is too many markers, only portion is visible per frame at once what is exactly great. For scanning small objects it is ideal !

Very good , now share please

Thank you Cath,

If anything I should probably add more markers, but it actually works very well already.

You are right, as I rotate the scanner (Metro Y Pro) lower and lower, I lose sight of the markers on top of the turn table so the scanner is mainly seeing the markers on the ring.

I might make a new “deeper” version so I can add more markers.

Deeper version would be great for better side capturing . My problem also ..really like this idea !
