Trackit - marker mode standalone suggestion

This is a suggestion, I know it is feasible but I don’t know if revopoint will want to invest in it and or if people are willing to buy it.

I dont use the track it as much, when I first got it I thought I was going to have the ability to use the scanner without the tracker for marker mode, but I was wrong.

the need to use the tracker as the (hub) doesn’t make sense, I know that we need specific power requirements and it will not work with a USB port directly which where my suggestion will come.

why not make some sort of a adapter, like other scanners that require the power brick that goes into the USB cable as well, this way I can use the trackit for almost everything, now I only use it when I need to scan larger objects but use other scanners for the marker scans.

This, if it happens, I am sure all trackit users are going to be more than happy to buy such an adapter to avoid having a large object like the tracker to take so much space when it is not needed.

Hi @binadhed

For that purpose there is MetroY that is exactly as Trackit without the Tracker for those that want to deal with markers scanning on a budged.

But saying that ,
I understand where you are coming from , I wish too there was an option to use it without the Tracker , but this will not only require to create adapter but also to rewrite the software and it’s firmware what in this case can be little problematic ( but not impossible)

The problem is that the released products are usually never “edited to this level” as that is basically a big upgrade that not everyone really will want and that would require users to purchase things to use the marker mode as standalone scanner.

but thank you for your feedback, I actually mentioned it too while testing the prototypes months ago but I will forward your suggestion as well.

Thank you for the reply, yes I do agree with you, I would like to get the MetroY as well but I already have 3 scanners.

I do agree with you, but at least if this is an option, I am sure anyone who is willing to pay 5000 usd for the scanner is more than willing to pay for an adapter even if it might cost 200usd ,.. it might not make sense for revopoint as this adapter will not make them profits or it might be acutally a loss, but IF they do it, this proves that they care about the customers more than other manufacturers in this field as up until now.

Hi @binadhed

The adapter is not a problem , many other users use Trackit even with a battery already …

The problem is rewriting the software, firmware etc.. that cost money and time , decision that need to be approved by the high board of the CEO’s since the product is already released .

Well, for the Trackit 2, I hope they do include that, but by then it wont make sense for current users to upgrade, maybe I will get the Trackit 3 it it ever happens.

Good luck
