Just recieved my Trackit, so maybe i’m missing something and someone can help me figure out…
Is there a way to use the scanner as a Standalone without having to go trough all the assembly of the tracking unit?
There seems to be no direct USB connector that one can use to power the scanner only for standalone marker scans so, am I correct to presume that the Standalone announced feature is not as Standalone as I was assuming, and you always have to plug the parafernalia of wires to the tracker and power unit to have a working scanner even if only to use in marker mode… or am I missing something?
You answered it yourself . And please don’t use the split cable from MetroX to power it and direct connect to PC .
It is unfortunate that the Tracker connection need to be part of Marker mode as well but once you get marker less and rewire your brain workflow , you never will want to get back.
Yeah but in premium space areas and for quick scan of small parts would be great to use just the scanner as assembling and disadsembling the whole kit takes a lot of time. And keeping the scanner always assembled takes a lot of space and adds risk of damage to the precision equipment…
Do You know if there will be a adapter making this possible in the future?
What would happen if i had plugged the MetroX cable and PSU? I thought of that but i have already sold my MetroX to aford to buy the Trackit, that said I am sure i am not the only one thinking of this so it is good to know and warn if there is a problem
I did try with a good USB3 cable, the scanner lit up booted but was not detected.
I get you , that would be nice to have , I guess I need to ask the team about future possibilities in that direction .
Regarding other question I can’t suggest you anything , because if you damage your scanner I can’t be responsible for it , or be cause if it , warranty will be not issued in this case .
The scanner is not MetroX, it uses much higher power demand and the software probably will only recognize it via the tracker .
The new EU law don’t allows new devices in Europe with other cables than USBC , that should be clear by now for everyone.
Don’t use genda converter , hub is the way to go. The genda USB converters are usually crap that can’t handle the data the proper way, for that reason it may be not included this time.
