Too many point clouds when importing to CloudCompare

am i missing something? I am just going to file → open

i just installed 2.14.alpha and it gives me the same issue…

Could you maybe share a video of you importing the file to CC, as that’s very weird?
Your .ply file doesn’t seem to be corrupted in any way

What is actually the purpose why you want to have the pointcloud /mesh in cloudcompare?

I’ve looked for that and found this thread:

Still I am not sure if and how this might be related to your problem…

Did you made any adjusting on the import panel ? Because that’s what it looks like .

We all tried and there is no error so it must be on your side

Reset the software settings and if not working , remove the original software and all related folders , the wrong settings that got stored may be affecting the import .

To test it out , import any other 3D model and check the points amount.

how do I reset the settings? I can’t seem to find that online other than resetting the gui elements

I ended up trying this on Meshmixer and it worked perfectly-no issues. All I need to do was be able to open the scan and level it and mesh mixer got the job done easily. I am not sure if I have an install issue with CloudCompare?

i just go to open - select the file and that’s it. I would post a video but it won’t show much! For my scans I need to specify the front, back, etc and make them true orthogonal views and that’s why I am using CloudCompare. i am basically making the scans level

that did it! I reset the “vbo’s” and it is working perfectly now! Thanks a lot for your help. This is exactly what I need it to do

Happy to hear it worked for you!
I am still surprised it kept the settings even after new installation , it must be stored somewhere under User/AppData

Anyway we learning new things everyday ! Part of the never ending learning process .
