I do understand you, tech moving forward fast. Still each and every Revopoint 3d scanner was well worth the amount money I paid for it and still great tools and up to tasks they were advertised. Never overpriced. I only miss single line and wireless on Metro X.
I’m ready to do tests and review to this new cool devYce)
Fair points Ivan although I expect the performance of these new devices is better than the X. I’ve always been frustrated with the speed of the X. With the very short gap in release times between these devices I have to assume they were in the works when the X was released.
How long will they sell the X for? Nobody is going to buy the MetroX now.
You can’t think this way @GuyH77
MetroY Pro is much beyond MetroX , capture double points amount with laser , faster thanks to more lines , 5 scanning modes , wireless .
Everything users wanted for the next Pro version.
MetroX is still better than MetroY for the value of the money and since MetroY Pro cost over $1500 I don’t see any downgrade of the MetroX value here.
The reason it is faster is because of the new laser hardware , it capture double amount of points using laser mode because it has more lines in the modes . That is the reason it is faster while scanning .
You can’t make MetroX faster since it capture of points in laser mode is only 800K and that can be changed only with physical replacement of the laser itself .
MetroX laser mode hardware reached its maximum speed with GPU acceleration. It can’t go faster since it can’t increase how many points it capture due to hardware.
To have a laser mode as fast as Full Field , it would need 128 laser lines with a speed of 80 frames per second .
The price would be enormous for that hardware.
I was going to make a comment about phasors and dilithium crystal, but I’ll shut up and climb back in my hole (I’m giving it all she’s got, Captain) As a former R&D and product development guy, there are usually a tonn of resons why new products get pushed along and about 80% are usualy external to the company eg end of life of components, minimum asic order orders, process technology advancements requiring redesine etc
- From my point of view, I can’t consider resale value; these are just tools, plain and simple. They do a job, whether it’s commercial or a hobby. I will only change them when they are no longer fit for purpose or because they allow me to do my job faster / better if you are pissed off because they released something new, you have an issue with your EGO, trust me, we made millions on egos
Fully agree. Unless Revopoint is remotely shutting down MetroX after the release of MetroY, it doesn’t make makes much sense to complain. Moreover, if we want to have a healthy company able to support our MetroXs, it must be able to release competitive products on time and make as much profit as possible from the sale of new products.
That being said, As I see it, the real deabreaker looks the Inspire2 to me. Looking forward to the reviews…
That’s exactly what it is Roberto.
No international company can survive one year from a sale of one product .
