I can’t seem to get Revo Studio to work, I’ve installed and activated with my CD key, but now when I start the program, I just get an app appear on my Start Bar that does nothing. Hovering the mouse over it shows a blank window. Clicking it does nothing:
I’ve tried starting it as administrator, starting it normally, starting it from the folder, etc. but can’t seem to get anything to happen.
Computer is an i9 10900K with an NVIDIA 3090 GTX with latest drivers. Windows 10 Pro 21H2. Revo Studio is latest Beta v3.0.5.11.202220407
@brizz it looks to me that it was conflict data between old Handy Studio and new Revo Studio.
Brave choice to to reinstall your Win 10. But glad to hear your issues are in the past.
It was actually your thread mentioning Cloud Compare that helped me track it down to being Windows 10. I installed CC and couldn’t get that to work either (would do the same thing of not loading) - then tried a few other small QT-based apps for 3d work (and all did the same).
Tried for a few hours to fix it with graphics driver reinstalls, .NET updates, VC runtimes etc. but eventually gave up and just went fresh.
Graphic drivers leaving behind a huge mess when they get updated only, reinstalling will not help to clean it , that why I always install fresh graphic drivers and never just update . It messed up my system many times before .
Oh believe me, I tried fresh installs. Uninstall, Reboot, reinstall. Even tried the DDU driver cleanup tool and safe mode uninstall and reinstalls. I have a feeling it was more something to do with Windows 10 and how it handles desktop app rendering than the graphics drivers themselves, which is why I think a reformat fixed it. I miss Windows 7. It might not have been as polished as Windows 10, but I never had to reformat it from core things just breaking. Windows 10 on the other hand has forced me to reformat several times now.
At least it’s all working now (and revo scan is working better, too, where I can now enable hardware acceleration without it going black).
I was about to recommend DDU driver cleanup for the future … lol
seems like there was a serious issue .
Windows 7 was the best I missing it too, how many times I reformatted win10 already , painfull . But don’t even think to upgrade to Windows 11 yet , lots of bad experiences , I shut down my TPM 2.0 on my workstation in the bios so Windows can’t make any update, just in case .
