When I mesh I often end up with lines that were not there on the object. They seem to be a bug in the software because they are across the entire object. They look like a giant X across the entire mesh. They do not appear in the cloud data from what I can tell. These are very large scans like a couple GB’s and usually have a couple merges. I’m using Marker Scan → Parallel line with general object.
I match all the values to the defaults for the quality as I go through the fusion and meshing steps so I don’t think its an upscale issue
It’s super annoying as it often crosses high detail areas and really ruins the entire scan. I haven’t found a way to have them not show up but it does seem slightly random.
The lines are because of the laser brightness settings , if you use too high settings and do not collect enough frames the lines will stay visible .
How lower the brightness settings how lower the chances of having burned lines on the surface and or collect extra frames , minimal 10.000 to 30.000
You can add frames after scanning to fix the areas .
If your o ject surface is white or gray never use higher brightness than level 7-8 , don’t change the exposure settings either .
I have the same issues. I’ve contacted support before about this but due to time constraints I forgot to send them the project file.
In the meshed model there are no lines visible, only after I merge the top and bottom part the lines become visible which is why I doubt it’s the laser settings. I also attached how the mesh gets imported in Fusion 360. The lines become even more visible.
Same issue with the scan below. It’s a single scan, no merging. In the meshed model there are no lines visible but in the exported mesh there are lines.

Sorry but I don’t fully understand what the issue is. Is that the laser brightness is burning in those lines? Is it that there is too many frames? or is it that I don’t have enough frames?
As far as brightness and exposure. I do ensure that the lines are grey and not red but I do have to increase those settings as I’m scanning darker stuff and it also has lots of deep grooves. It’s the only way that scanning those areas works. But you are correct I do have the brightness increased.
Thank you for your reply. That is exactly the issue I’m seeing. Your pictures explain it perfectly. Now if I tried to merge a second scan all those details will never merge as nicely as that original scan and you will have to smooth those details out. So it really defeats the purpose of the high resolution of the Y-Pro. At least that is my experience.
I needed a high res scan for all the small details on the first object. I had it on my auto rotation table with aesub blue sprayed on it with an added Revo rechargable mini led light. The scan came out near perfect except for the lines.
Sometimes if I do a new scan with the exact same settings I don’t have the lines so it seems like a software glitch instead of laser issues. Such a shame as it ruined a perfect high detail scan.
I’m actually more convinced it’s a software bug and not exposure, brightness, etc. The reason is, as a test I did two scans and I merged them. The lines went across both scans. I used different settings for both scans. That leads me to believe it’s an issue with the meshing or maybe merging and not an issue with the scan.
If this is about the straight line in the middle of the the scan after merger then indeed it is off an to need to be checked by the team
I was referring to the surface lines as they appear when there is not the enough frames collected or the setting of the laser was too bright , since I see it also in your screenshot example @Themackdad
But the straight line across need to be as new bug that need to be investigated ASAP
