Metrox, Cross line laser , The problem of forming balconies in intersecting areas

In the scan, a protrusion occurs at the intersection of the top and side surfaces.
I used scan spray.

Hi! How many frames? How did you postprocess the scan (fusing/meshing)? What are your fusing and meshing settings?

Looks like not enough frames proper equalizer around the whole surface while scanning.

You could get better results with Auto or Full Field mode in less time if you use already 3D spray .

Make sure you always elevate the model from the bottom and never put it in contact with the scanning surface.

Unfortunately, that’s the standard statement, not enough frames. Rounded corners are not caused by this but by the projector itself. In the Discord it was presented quite well and showed where the weaknesses lie.

The training here is extreme, maybe a bit too much scan spray? Probably a bit of both.

Не буду утверждать, но у многих людей существует ошибка. Они делают два скана и сшивают их. А этого может быть недостаточно. Надо делать переходной скан для сшивки. И да, я не поддержка, я пользователь с большим опытом сканирования.

2500 frames and meshed . I scanned this sample again and the results came out good. Now frames count 7600

It is based on what I see in the screenshot and not what I read online about.

Based on experiences , you should try sometimes

Looking much better already

2500 frames is never enough for a laser scan, 8000 frames and up will always provide better results .

That’s a good result. And yes, take your time, collect more data from different angles.
If it’s not a secret, which program took the bottom two screenshots?

Okay, I tried it, no success. Maybe you can help. How many frames should I record on one edge, let’s say field of view 10*10 cm, so that I get sharp edges?

In Full Field It’s not about the amount of frames but about the angles .

In Laser mode it works different because the frames FOV is so small you need lots of frames to cover the area plus all the angles on top, so extra work , time and patience.

There is not magical number that will fix your needs but for very small objects it starts around 8K from all angles around 5x5 cm depends of the details.
Pay attention how the lines hit the corners vertical vs horizontal and always go with the opposite direction .

i’m already excited for the GPU acceleration and how it will speed up the capture rate relative to the frame count.
Just signed up for the beta testing!

Yes it will speed up the frame capture.
So much easier to use laser mode
scans in no time.
