So now I have ecountered another issue with the Metro X.
the after processed mesh is creating all kind of twirl lines all over the mesh that practically ruin the scan… the lines are not in the object I already checked and it is smooth. the software is somehow creating them after processing the mesh which is dissapointing…
I already tried a lot of set ups and different processing and values and it is still doing it.
I applied smoothing and it helps to the lines but complitelty ruins the detail on the object which is what I need.
The lines look to me like a word grain lines. Is the wood you scanning in 2 different colors ? Because the brighter lines will be always up compared to darker lines and in that cases you need to use 3D spray to avoid artifacts due to the color surfaces regardless if the object is smooth or not.
Do you have a picture in the same position of the under side of the wooden object?
I don’t see any other reason you would get it .
You can use the smooth brush to get rid of the line but don’t use smoothing options because it will not work as the smoothing will follow already the pattern and not make it disappear.
I thought the same at the begining. but no is not the pattern grain of the wood I checked in it does not match at all. This last one I scanned 3 times. first rough, then sanded and then sanded plus primer to get rid of any trace of marks or grain and have it smooth. the lines would still show no matter the tolerances on the grid mesh, the distance between points etc. Also checked previous files that came out of plastic models, not wood. and it would still create this lines with a unique pattern tho. is something the software creates after.
I was maybe not clear enough , it is not the surface relief pattern that do that , it is the color of the wood, the sensors may picking up different depths because of that , please take shot of the bottom of that object , other way I will ask you to recalibrate your scanner and if still not working to contact customer@revopoint3d.com
P. S I assume you used Full Field or Auto mode ?
Because sometimes when the angle is wrong it can generate the waves when the patterns reflecting uneven at specific angle while scanning , I never saw it from laser mode, but often from Full Field mode , how to avoid it ? Scanning directly parallel to the object holding the scanner vertically to avoid stretching of the projector pattern on the surface.
If you are not familiar with 3D editing the processing with different settings will not help much beside smooth brush , there is nothing else to remove it .
