- Pre Scan Preparation
In your iPhone’s WIFI settings, find and connect the network named with the first eight digits of the serial number on the silver label on the scanner’s back.
After connecting, open the Revo Scan app and tap the settings icon at the top right corner to select your preferred language. This menu also allows you to access the Revo Scan user guide or watch tutorial videos.
Before starting a scan, select your scan settings based on the type of objects being scanned.
Firstly, select scan accuracy. Three options are available:
- Standard: Suitable for objects with simple structures. Model processing will also be faster.
- High: Suitable for objects with complex structures. Model processing will take longer.
- High-speed: The model processing speed remains the same as the Standard Accuracy mode, but the frame rate is faster, and the stitching is smoother.
Note: Your scanner’s model determines the maximum fps and Object Type in High-speed mode.
Next, Select the Tracking Mode
- Feature: Scan objects with unique shapes and distinct features, such as sculptures or people.
- Marker: Scan objects that have large, smooth areas or few geometric features, such as flat planes like a board or symmetrical items like balls or bowls.
Note: When you choose Marker tracking mode, place marker dots on or around the object or place the Magic Mat under the object.
Then select the object type.
Object Type
- General: Scan objects with distinct geometric features and unique shapes.
- Dark: Scan objects with dark surfaces, such as black or dark gray clothes, black boxes, etc.
- Note: Before scanning dark objects or highly reflective surfaces, please coat them with scanning spray.
- Face: Scan a person’s face.
- Body: Scan a person’s body.
- Large Object: Scan large objects such as cars, furniture, etc.
Finally, decide if you need a color scan.
- Toggle the Color Scanning switch to capture the object’s color. Untoggle it if a color scan isn’t required.
- Enable base removal, which will automatically delete flat surfaces like table tops during the scan.
- Tapping the scan distance adjustment icons allows the depth camera’s working distance to be adjusted.
- Tapping the display color button toggles the object’s color data.
- Tapping the reset view button centers the model on the selected plane.
The depth camera and RGB camera preview windows are on the left side of the interface in the depth camera preview window.
- Select either automatic exposure or manually adjust it until the depth camera preview interface displays minimal red and blue areas on the object if doing a color scan.
- Select automatic exposure or manually adjust the RGB exposure value to ensure accurate colors in the RGB preview image. If the scanner has flash LEDS, tap this button to turn them on or off.
- Scanning processing
Once the settings are configured, start the scan and monitor the work distance indicator bar at the top of the screen to ensure it stays green throughout the scan.
- Post-scanning Processing
Tap on the model button in the bottom right corner to access the model processing page.
Here, the point cloud can be edited with one tap or manually. If you use one-tap edit, the app will automatically fuse, mesh, and apply color data if doing a color scan to create a finished 3D model.
If you prefer manual processing, the first step is to perform Point Cloud Fusion.
After fusion, you can perform isolation detection and use the overlap detection and smoothing tools to refine the point cloud.
Proceed to meshing, where you can use automatic hole filling and the simplification tool to reduce file size and noise.
The isolation and smoothing tools in meshing settings work similarly to their point cloud counterparts.
In either fused or meshed states, model editing can be performed by tapping the rectangular or lasso selection tool to select and delete areas you want to remove.
For colored models, apply texture mapping to colorize the model.
You can switch between various processing stages on the left side of the preview window.
Tap the button in the top right corner to either resume scanning or take screenshots.
After completing the modeling processing, you can export single or multiple files in different formats.
Note: Only project files can transferred to a PC. Make sure your phone and computer are connected to the same WI-FI network.
Open Revo Scan on a PC. Click New Project, click the file in the menu, click Import from the phone, and choose either to input the verification code or scan the QR code.
Last but not least, we frequently update Revo Scan, so please remember to keep it up to date.
