Revo Scan 5.0 - how to deal with inside of a scan when the inside doesn't matter

So i’m new to this forum and new to 3d scanning. i’m picking it pretty well, the one issue i have is when scanning an object where you don’t care what the inside is and would prefer to just shell the inside with a wall thickness. I’m needing suggestion or guidance on how to do this. Any help is much appreciated and this is my first post so i hope i categorized it correctly.

Thanks in advance

Any photos?

Normally you would scan the outside then hole fill the bottom.

You can then shell or hollow out by using resin slicer.

If the item is a mechanical part, then reverse engineering game and can story to go

What I actually do is scanning the outside shell only , then use thickness function in my 3D editing software to produce the actual printable watertight shell wall.
Faster way than anything but it will depend what kind of object it is , any of the object ?

What 3D editing software do you use for creating the shell? Thanks in advance.

Hi Chad , I am using Zbrush for that, but there are plenty of free software that can do the same as for example Blender etc…

Hi

Blender is free, yet powerful that’s why many use it.
For your goal most use the “solidify” operation described e.g. here

Some get better results using " extrude faces along normals"

Maybe that helps you.

Cheers
