Revo metro update V5.8.8

Hello everyone,

Since Oktober 6th, 2026, we received the Revo Metro V5.8.8 update.

I have been working with it for about three days now. I am not completely sure what all the changes are, but one click processing seems much faster using full field and much slower using Cross lines mode Overall, the workflow feels slightly slower when using cross lines mode .

The Problems i encountered on the previous version V5.8.7 have been resolved
So what baffles me is that the One-click takes so much longer than in the previous version
i have switched back from 5.8.8 to 5.8.7 just to make sure that this was the case and it takes the software rougly 3 minutes longer on the 5.8.8 software

I am running both new and older hardware :

My old setup:

  • i7-8700K
  • 128 GB RAM
  • 1 TB Samsung 980 EVO NVMe
  • GTX 1080 Ti
  • RTX 3090

New setup:

  • amd ryzen 9 9950x3d2
  • 128 GB RAM
  • 2 TB Samsung 990 EVO NVMe
  • RTX 5080

My Revo hardware:

  • Metro X
  • Multi axis turntable
  • 500 mm large turntable

Has anyone found that the same issue?

Another isue im stil facing is that the big turntable is difficult to connect vs the small one
Soon my Metro X Pro wil arrive . im curious as how it performs against the regular Metro X

Hi @zundappchef

It takes longer because of the algorithms that needs more time to complete precisely the new task, slower don’t mean negative here if the work is done better.

After extensive testing and switching back and forth between versions, I can now say with confidence that the changes have had a negative impact on the workflow.

The results produced by the initial One-Click process have actually become significantly worse.

Initially, I thought this might be an issue with my Metro X, so I even upgraded to the Metro X Pro. However, the results remain exactly the same. The only noticeable difference is that scanning itself is now faster and more accurate.

So, what exactly has gotten worse?

The generated models now contain a significant number of holes, even in areas where the original scan data is completely intact.

To get a usable model, I now have to perform several additional steps:

  1. Run the Mesh process separately using the High Quality setting.
  2. Run Isolation separately.
  3. Manually fill the large amount of remaining holes.

With version 5.8.7, the exact same part only requires filling a few holes, and the model is ready. This makes the older version considerably faster and more efficient overall.

That said, there has been one noticeable improvement in the newer version.

The workflow for removing unwanted scanned geometry has improved significantly. I can now simply remove the unwanted geometry in the Fusion tab, and those changes are automatically reflected in the One-Click tab, including the merged results.

This is a genuinely useful improvement and definitely a step in the right direction.

Unfortunately, the deterioration in mesh generation and the additional processing steps outweigh that improvement.

For now, I will continue using version 5.8.7 because, despite the improvements in the newer software, it still provides a significantly faster and more reliable workflow for producing finished models.

I would really like to see the mesh generation quality and efficiency of 5.8.7 restored while keeping the workflow improvements introduced in the newer versions.
