just out of curiosity do a cross section and check for dimensional accuracy
wonder if we put some reading glasses on the scanner like the old xbox scanner trick it picks up more detail
On the depth sensors yes , but the volume accuracy may get wrong , I tried many tricks with POP2 already , ND filters on the projector helped to filter the noises out when scanning at minimum distance with POP2 and small white objects .
I never tried it again with POP3 or INSPIRE … WHEN I have more time I may try again .
Good idea , I believe the accuracy is there to some degrees, maybe around 0.1mm± off what is still acceptable.
That’s mental. You’ve given me some ideas to play with tonight.
It’s already impressive!
It is indeed good to specify this so as not to see people complaining about not being able to scan a part with equipment that is not designed for that.
It’s a gift, and we don’t complain about a gift because it doesn’t match the color of our eyes…
Glad you got inspired , I got inspired from your Lego scan as well …
Remember when you scan so little things add some additional objects , I used 2 rubber beads below the printer parts to add the required volume . At its own the software will not see that small parts since the software scanner profile is set to 50mm minimum, after scanning and fusing just cut off the accompanied elements before meshing …
Thanks Phil , yes we don’t want a false expectation especially caring about the new users that don’t know all the tricks yet … but going to be surprised after they learn a little bit.
I don’t know how to translate it to English , but…" You never check the teeth of a horse that was giving to you as a gift "
This scanner is impressive , and nothing I personally expected it to be … now I understand why Revopoint never choice the highest specifications as selling point despite the hardware is at the highest level , other companies share numbers that are never true in practice .
For the price on KS, it is a stealer!!
Yes it’s really impressive.
For the moment I am not financially able to participate in the KS campaigns, it’s a little frustrating especially when new equipment comes out immediately after receiving its scanner. (But since the release of Revoscan 5 I’ve been having fun reworking the few scans I did upon the arrival of my pop 2 without any experience.
The scans that I thought were failures don’t sound so bad after all !) I also realized how incredibly low I paid it.
But Next year things will be different for me, in the meantime, I am carefully reading all the posts on the forum, I am learning a lot.
You are the first person I followed, your expertise in the field really allowed me to progress. Since other beta testers have appeared, their involvement, knowledge, and ingenuity really changes things.
I am really aware of the work, and the time that it represents and I hope that Revopoint does too!
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you and the other beta testers, and of course Revopoint !
crumpled paper works magic
Thank you Phil , that is kind of you , I “see you” around all the time observing and reading posts and now with other beta testers it is more versatile on many fields and much more fun to learn ! happy to have you around in our community as that inspire me to do more !
Have you tried scanning subjects close to the max scan volume? Someone is asking me if INSPIRE can be used to scan full humans and a motorbike.
This should be doable since the max scan volume is 2mx2mx2m (even though RANGE would be more suitable for this kind of project), but I’d like to send that person real life examples of what can be achieved.
Yes I did , I prefer Range but made tests the other day and it was working very good , motorbike need to be scanned in fragments , there is too many angles to get it in one shot , so I would suggest many angles and merge it later , Inspire is great for auto parts scanning .
The 2 m is for the volume of the project so full body can be scanned easy .
I will see what I can do for you tonight with the examples .
so many great scan and infos by Catharina and I almost missed it. I love updated threads being highlighted and pushed to the top. otherwise I would have mised so many of them. and I am so glad I didn`t.
I was wondering Ivan that you didn’t passed yet by my tread… good you found it
Thank you my friend !
Hi, Thanks for you great posts. not yet bought the inspire but don’t think I can resist for much longer.
Can I ask, when you say merge the large scans, such as a motorbike. Is this something you can do in the revo software? Or with other 3d modelling software.
Thanks again
Thank you !
Yes you can merge multiple scans of the same object direct in Revo Scan 5 .
Not sure how i missed this thread.
It hase exactly info that i needed. Scanning wheelcaps sized parts, ease of tracking of those objects with less features and results of merged/finished scans.
Also head/torso scan result is superb.
Even color scans are top.
Was looking for an advice for a scanner that could scan mid size car parts easier to go with the mini. And ocasional head/torso scan.
I’m glad i went for inspire as it was super BF deal.
Just need time to get it out of box and give it a try.
I am glad you go for INSPIRE , it is my favorite scanner of 2023 ! If there is an award I would give it to INSPIRE … low price , easy to use , great accuracy and excellent results without big hustle, not to mention great tracking .
Color are great as long you use additional LED lighting while scanning since it have only 1 LED … adding extra light will make the colors more brilliant .
I use it lately a lot …
Got ringlights, couple of wrgb hotshoe lights.
I’ve tested different colour range with mini to see if it affects scanning results.
